Abc commentators before the dallas and orlando game suggested that with the recent difficulties of the mavericks in the past feeks, ie, trouble betw the coach and head office, players b****ing betwen themselves about shooting time and their terrible record agianst the WC teams (but much better than RoX though)

that if they don't perform well in the post season after years of bad playoff ball they will be dismantled keeping the core of Dirk, Nash and Finely.

Commentators say they have too much trouble with not enough people as role players than they did last year(ie: the people fighting for rebounds, defense etc) and too many players waiting for the ball -too many shooters that do nothing but waiting for their chance to score.

Damn we are exactly the reverse, well maybe not exactly, I don't know how much our strength is on role players but one thing I damn sure of is we definately do not have the (CONSISTENT) shooters in terms of quantitavely and qualitatively as other WC teams have -no depth.

if Dallas is ready for the implosion next season who can we pick up as feeders for the big guys and shooters for our inconsistent perimeter scoring?

Man if they stinck up in the playoffs the wholesale maybe on in Dallas, As a Rox fan I'm salivating on jameson, walker or anyone that can consistently hit the P shot when Ming gets double teamed. That would be a true inside out methodology when we have our inside presence and dallas's outside aresenal.

I hope their terrible play continues it can hopefully benefits the Rox nxt season.

    Cheers

You don't need to be a so-called expert to know that. I bet Finley is the one moved along with Walker!

How is keeping the core of Dirk, Nash, and Finley dismantling?

The only other trade value they have is Walker and Jamison. IMO, neither of those guys are that big to that teams success. If both of them get traded I wouldn't call that dismantling. I think they'd be very stupid to trade Finley though...he's one of the most underrated guys in the league.

And I sure as hell don't want walker or jamison on our team. Toine can't shoot, can't rebound anymore, complains about minutes, and needs to dominate the ball to be effective. I like Twan's game and his attitude, but I want no part of his max contract.

If dallas isn't dealing dirk, nash, or finley then i don't see the rox being interested at all.

I don't want any part of anybody who whines about playing time. It is not an entitlement. Make it up in practice, not in the press.

I'd take Jamison to play SF for us & move JJ over to SG, with Mobley coming off the bench.

    How about Cato/Piatkowski for Jamison?

Cato gives them the inside defensive presence that they've needed & Piatkowski gives them a veteran scorer on the bench that doesn't demand the ball.

Jamison gives us a solid scorer & rebounder at the SF position. Now, if Badiane can develop into the dominant PF that we need, then Francis won't have to be traded to get one. On second thought, let's trade Francis anyway. :D

Mavs fans want some defensive-minded role players. I'd offer Cato, Spoon, and A Griffin back to Dallas for Jamison and Delk.

Walker is tempting, especially since his contract expires in a year. Walker can feed the low post and take some of the point responsibilities from Francis, but he has terrible shot selection and like Francis is most effective when allowed to freelance. Definitely not a good fit under Van Gundy.

as far as their future goes, i dont see them resigning nash (daniels is playing great), and finley, jamison and walker can be put on the block. I agree that they need more strength and defense, but dirk needs to be more consistant this year in order to be a centerpeice. Tall, jumpshooting, versatile white guys have won championships in the past, but they need some damn good roleplayers. if they decide to rebuild around dirk, with daniels and josh howard replacing finley and nash, and then get some better people, other than walker and jamison, then it is possible that they can improve and contest in 4 years. Except by that time, yao and our team chemistry should be unstoppable.

Mavs are going to find out something: It is a lot easier to acquire high dollar talent than get rid of it. IMO the problem with Dallas isn't Walker and Jamison, it is Dirk, Nash, and Don Nelson. None of these three have a desire to put defense first. Cuban should shoulder some blame for green lighting two totally offensive players on a team in which its major problem was defense.

I can't see a big demand for Walker, Jamison, or Finley. Although Walker's expiring contract might entice a team looking to make a run at T Mac.

I dont want anyone from Dallas unless its Nowitzki or Nash.

    Walker is a total scrub.
Jamison is alright, but I wouldn't trade any Francis, Cat, Ming or Jim for him.
Finley plays absolutely no defense. Not a Van Gundy type of player.

I think Finley is a pretty good defender..:) ??

If they can deal away walker or jamison, Nash has a higher chance to re-sign.

wouldn't mind Jamison for the right deal

would love to have Howard and Daniels, they are really nice players, especially considering they are rookies... they already play with poise

The Big in Big D is the BIG contracts most of their players have, so who, exactly, is going to line up for anyone other than Dirk, Nash, and maybe Najera? (Not counting their kids, Howard and Daniels).

Walker? Jameson? Fortson? Bradley? Finley is excellent, but almost 3X Cat's contract/season and he is not 3X Cat.

I like Hottodies trade regarding trading Cato/Pike for Jamison. But if they want Francis or Cuttino I'd tell him to sux on a nutt.

But you see, on a Rockets fan web site, we knock Steve Francis for his lack of D while always praising the going no where Mavs.

If Francis comes even close to running the offense as smoothly as Nash, no one here would be complaining about his defense.

Personally, I'd be make any trade that involves Nash or Dirk, without giving up Yao. I really don't care for any other combination. Of course, there's no way the Mavericks make such a trade possible, so it's pointless.

Seriously, other than Dirk and Nash (who Mavs aren't gonna trade), they don't have anything good. Finley is getting old and he's got an enormous contract. Walker is just plainly bad. Jamison has a max contract which he definitely doesn't deserve.

Hell, they dismantled the team after a 60 win season, why not dismantle it after a 50 win season?

The way it looks right now with the Mavs as the 6th seed and the Lakers as the 3 seed, the Mavs are in BIG trouble! They will be bounced from the first round.

You have to think that Nelson will be fired. The team needs a new coaching direction. I know Nash and Dirk are the core of the team, but I still feel Finley is the heart. He is the ONLY player that plays any type of defense on that team and hustles every game.

They definitely need to get rid of Walker and perhaps Jamison.

If you keep the core of Nash, Finley and Dirk, then plug Howard into the SF role and then find a banger Center you could be in business. That would give you 3 players, Howard, Finley and the C to play solid defense along with Nash and Dirk for the offense.
