obviously aaron is better ball handler than luther, but wtf would he be any different than luther was if aaron doesnt learn how to pass the ball...bc aaron has been hurting the team in fourth quarters

it's ok to question Brooks. But to compare him to Luther is laughable and not worth a dedicated thread (or even discussion). They're not the same player. Just because they averaged the same # of ppg doesn't allow you to compare them and say they might end up the same..

    Luther was a 43%FG and 43% 3pts shooter back to 06-07. Aaron is 40%, 36% right now.

Because Luther Head is the worst passer in the NBA. I am not talking about unwillingness to pass or lack of court vision. I mean he can't make a pass without turning the ball over. If you don't care about getting the ball over the half court line, then by all means, lets replace Aaron Brooks with Luther Head.

They don't even play the same position. Brooks is the point guard and Luther was a spot-up undersized two guard.

You know what? Brooks is more like a undersized two guard as well.

AB shoots worse than Head, but he's a better player than Head.

On the other hand, Lowry shoots worse than AB on 3 pointers, but overall he's the better PG, and he's younger.

That's why I'd like to see Lowry play PG more, handle the ball more.

Luther Head makes Aaron Brooks look like Chris Paul.

Very similar but Luther couldnt set the table for others and was just as vulnerable in post up situations.

Luther was a far better shooter than Brooks is. More consistent for sure but if you don't remember how bad Luther was with the ball let me remind you. He was horrible. Arguably the worst passing guard in the game (I think Charlie Rosen echoed that opinion).

Brooks is Rafer 2.0 which is still light years ahead of Luther at running the PG.

Luther was a great shooter... but so is Tyronne Lue... would you rather have Aaron Brooks or Tyronne Lue?

    Aaron Brooks' PER:
    07-08 - 13.19
    08-09 - 13.14

    Luther Head's PER:
    05-06 - 11.24
    06-07 - 13.73
    07-08 - 13.72
    08-09 - 9.79

Defensively it may very well be a wash. The difference between the two at that point in their respective careers is actually not too much. The team is counting on Brooks to improve upon his game with increased PT and the idea that learning to play point is the hardest thing in the NBA. If he doesn't then he will go the same way as Head.

Another very important point not to be neglected--Head became a different player in the playoffs. So far Brooks has given every indication that he would thrive in situations of increased pressure. So there you go.

I'm not sure what the numbers say, but one thing that has been bothering me about AB is his turnovers, he seems to get alot of em.

umm, have you looked at his TURNOVER NUMBERS? The worst thing you can do is claim something is worth worrying about when it's purely based on numbers and you haven't even looked at the numbers!

No I haven't looked at the numbers, that why I said I'm not sure what the numbers say. I've just noticed that he seems to get a lot of turnovers while I'm watching. Maybe i just pay attention to it since Rafer was so good at not turning the ball over.
