he is our version of rajon rondo. by next year he will be a second year pg (like rondo this year) who no one thinks should start over the vets, but guess what? speed kills on the perimeter. if rondo could do it why not blur? rondo's a better defender, but blur is a better shooter from long range. both get past anyone in front of them at will. i understand the importance of rafer. the steady vet PG who never turns the ball over, and does a great job of getting the team into it's offensive sets early in the shot clock. the main difference, and the most important point to my argument for brooks to start next year is this: rafer is not a play maker. brooks makes the defense respond to his drives. something the team has a major thirst for. it's time that someone other than tmac or yao create something for himself or his teammates. he was thrown into the rotation early in the season, and is now playing big minutes in the playoffs. by next year he will be ready.
dude. he was awesome! i loved the momentum change when he went for a 4-0 run! easy layups. cant wait till he develops.
What team in the history of the NBA all of a sudden gave a rookie "fresh looks" in the postseason? He should start if he gives the team the best chance to win now, period. Which arguably he might but still... Itd be like starting Sam Cassell in place of Kenny Smith as soon as the playoffs started
don't see brooks starting next year or anytime after that. he's just too small. don't think he can get much bigger either if he hits the weight room. he better hire a defensive coach if he wants to get on the court.
Right. It's just jitters. If that's the case, he's had jitters behind the arc all season long. He has all summer to practice those. When he's in the game, he needs to drive because that's when he's most effective. He leaves everyone in the dust, and he can hit his free throws.
His lack of size was exposed a couple of times (his 3 blocked at the end of 3rd, DWill shooting right over him, etc), but his penetration is something our team REALLY needs right now. Unlike Tmac or Bjax, he got into the paint almost effortlessly. While they say that you can't teach height, I think given some time to adjust to the NBA game, Brooks will be a solid backup PG for our team.
We need to trade this kid, he'll get abused by bigger guards and his decision making is alittle bit above Luther.
Except we need him to knock down those wide open shots when the clock was winding down instead of driving into a wall inside. It's not that simple. He would love to drive every time I bet, but it's not video game.
You should realize that the bigger guards cannot follow his speed either! I think his speed and Yao's height might be a perfect fit.
