With all the trades being talked about and Brooks budding into a star before our eyes, I thought we'd see how people across the board feel about his possible upside and whether he'll remain a Rocket for a long time. Personally, I think Aaron is turning into a top 10 -15 player and would be hesitant to move him except for a handful of guys.
I dont know about top 10 player but he's definitely becoming a top 10 PG, which is still saying a lot since he's been starting for less than a year!
I love Aaron, but I think people here are beginning to over-rate him simply because he's our best scorer in the starting lineup. He's not a great scorer and I'm not sure he has it in him to be one. Even when he scored 43 points, it took him 3 over-times to do so. I believe he can be an efficient 18-22 ppg scorer - but his nights where he breaks 40 are going to be incredibly few and far between. Hell, I expect he'll break the 30 point mark fewer times than the elite scorers hit 40.
I would hate it if we traded him if it were between trading him and landry id have to go with landry AB to me is an all star and our best player
Until he can run a fast break or drive and dish consistently he isn't a top 10 anything. Again, I love the guy and even like his game but let's not confuse good (not great) scoring numbers and decent (not good) shooting from a PG on a team with no offensive fire power for superstar potential. You guys do know he starts alongside three players who are absolutely inept offensively, right?
ast:t.o. says he is not ready for top 20 we'll see how it plays out next year with yao if his turnovers can be reduced, if he is still here
What does being a backup have to do with anything? Anyway, I think Brooks is going to be a star with the Rockets. I'd rather give up Lowry than Brooks. He's Steve Nash-lite. He just needs to up the assists (which will happen if the starting lineup could score). I would love to see what Brooks could do if Iggy and/or Bosh were in the starting lineup. His coming out party was definitely Game 1 against Portland last year.
20 ppg 5 apg kind of guy...very effective but not the type to carry a team for stretches of games. Sell high....
He can potentially be a high efficiency 20 ppg, 5 assist guy for many years. I don't think his mentality of being a score-first PG will change, or should change. Expecting him to be a superstar is silly, but he has the potential to be an all-star in coming years if the Rockets get better players on the team and they can win more games.
Since I'm being lazy, can someone post their opinionated list of what they would consider "elite" players this season and post only their CURRENT season stats, then also post Aarons......just curious on what needs to "develop" for him to become that status.
May be a star one day but not the franchise player type. Highest ceiling Tony Parker? I would not trade him unless there's a better and young go-to-player coming in. Bosh is not that go-to-player, neither is Iguodala/Butler/Martin. Yes to Chris Paul.
I'm not exactly sure what he could to improve his game. Perhaps get a few more assists, but that's probably more dependent on his teammates then him. Perhaps get more steals, but he's never going to be a good defender due his size.
He's the quickest player in the NBA with a decent 3 and a myriad of finishing moves. I''ll just keep him right where he is, thanks.
