Just turned on ESPN 2 and little Brooks is on for his college 3pt contest. I guess it was 2006.

Ya and ya wonder why he left that shot at home for the 2007-2008 season. Sir Brooks was Sir Brick-A-Lot

as you know, the nba 3pt line is bit further than the college line.

he needed some time to adjust. add to that the insecurity in trying to figure out as a rookie PG when to pass or shoot.

next year will tell us a lot about what kind of player brooks will be.

"Sporadic playing time, limited minutes, and adjusting to the new distance will do that to you. Give him some time."

    Sincerely,

    Sasha Vujacic

One thing Brooks has always been is inconsistent. Dating back to his freshman year at U of O.

i know vujacic can't seem to miss ANY wide open shot this year.

hopefully novak and brooks can elevate their games a little bit more. vujacic is the reason their bench is so good this year.

I think Jordan Farmar might just be the one who elevated their bench play rather than Sasha. At least Farmer's a creator. Sasha is more of a spot-up shooter.

Ya ok...was curious so I looked up Monta Ellis Rook season to see how he did in comparison.

    Ellis
    MPG 18.1
    PPG 6.8
    3P% .341
    2P% .415
    FT% .712
    APG 1.6
    PF 1.4

    Brooks
    MPG 11.9
    PPG 5.2
    3P% .330
    2P% .413
    FT% .857
    APG 1.7
    PF 1.4

So looking at these numbers is cause for encouragement. Rookie Brooks is putting up nearly identical numbers to the rookie Monta Ellis numbers.

College is currently at 19 feet 9 inches, though they are moving it back to 20 feet 9 inches.

FIBA is at 20 feet 6 inches but pushing it back to 22 feet 2 inches effective October 2010.

NBA varies from 22 feet in the corner to 23 feet 9 inches around the arc.

As a Duck alumn I'm as big as an advocate there is for Aaron Brooks. However, if he wants to become anything like Monta Ellis ... He's going to have to grow about 5 inches, become much more consistent, work on the jumper and develop better decision making skills. Are some of those things possible? Sure, are they likely? Don't know yet. To compare Brooks who just completed his rookie season to a player that's on the verge of stardom is setting your expectations up for failure.
