Kind of a combination thread. I was re-watching the fourth quarter of the Celtics game just now and I was struck by how cold blooded Brooks is. Matt Bullard talked about how reserved and polite Brooks is when you talk to him but how absolutely confident he is. In the fourth last night you'd assume there would be huge pressure on Brooks, a second year guy, and looking back what really impresses me now is how calm and collected he was in clutch time. First he draws the charge off of Pierce, forcing a Celtics TO. Then he sets up Wafer for the three off of his dribble penetration. Then he grabs the defensive rebound off the Pierce miss. Then he waves off Landry on the high pick and roll, penetrates and sets up Landry which sets up Yao for the dagger shot. We talk about how good Yao/Wafer/Hayes were last night but when you stop and look back that last couple of possessions--where the game was decided--were all about Brooks. He made the right decision four times in a row on both offense and defense. He's fast, but it may be that his greatest asset in his NBA career is how calm he is. So in honor of the ice water flowing in his veins I propose Absolute Zero for a nick--the coldest temperature possible.
He is the perfect 6th man and he is really starting to get comfortable out there on the court. It's a shame that the pressure is on him to shoot lights out and scoring 15+ points every night to make up for the poor shooting and lack of offensive production the Alston delivers on most nights. If this team had a legit, solid shooting, starting PG people would appreciate what Brooks brings to this team even more.
sorry but absolute zero is pretty lame. Hey, "zero" what's up. hey absolute, what's up? AZ what's up? sorry, not going to work. Flash is better.
Sounds good. I've been calling him "Lil Brick" lately. I still love the guy though and last night was definitely refreshing.
offensively he is really a nightmare for teams....i was really impressed with his passing last night too, i thought that was his weakness. But not only he shot well, he make key passes (to wafer for the key 3, to landry for the layup, which was blocked, but lead to an easy put back by yao).
Ah well, I get points for trying. I also forgot that he used up the last foul the Rockets had to give to cut off Rondo when he was trying to drive. So that's five solid plays in the last two minutes of the game. Also, you can't rip off Wade's nick even if Shaq is long gone.
Ok this is the last post for this thread...Jet pack? Aaron booster? Light speed? aaron the lightning bug? God's speed? Over the speed limit? Too the max?
AGENT ZERO sounds ok attributed to Arenas. But yeah - absolute zero isnt quite as catchy. Also it kinda could be taken as calling him a loser.
Creative. I like it... but he really has to kill more teams to earn a name like that. Maybe some day.
SOLUTION: Call him "Coke Zero" since his game is becoming quit addictive to Rocket fans on this board!
