A War With China Would Be Unlike Anything Americans Faced Before
    Feb. 27, 2023

    By Ross Babbage

Dr. Babbage is the author of the forthcoming book “The Next Major War: Can the U.S. and Its Allies Win Against China?”

"The military scenario alone is daunting: China would probably launch a lightning air, sea and cyber assault to seize control of key strategic targets on Taiwan within hours, before the United States and its allies could intervene. Taiwan is slightly bigger than the state of Maryland; if you recall how quickly Afghanistan and Kabul fell to the Taliban in 2021, you start to realize that the takeover of Taiwan could happen relatively quickly. China also has more than 1,350 ballistic and cruise missiles poised to strike U.S. and allied forces in Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and American-held territories in the Western Pacific. Then there’s the sheer difficulty the United States would face waging war thousands of miles across the Pacific against an adversary that has the world’s largest navy and Asia’s biggest air force."

I think Russia being total ass in Ukraine has maybe lulled people into a false sense of what war with China would be like.

    China is not Russia.

Good to see a non-biased opinion not influenced by financial gain.

War is bad no matter what. Makes it all the more important to speak quietly and carry a big stick. Too bad the Obama and the Democrats killed the F-22 program with their super majority.

the key is to stop the appeasement and mollycoddling, the PRC has no respect for that.

    That's correct, I don't have the same intelligence of a 5th grader.

Let me help you out a little in your insult for next time.:

It's a shame that you don't possess the level of intelligence typically expected of a fifth-grader

don't worry buddy, you will get there. Stay angry!

I don't think they would ever do it.

China is about 10 years away from economic collapse.

The collective economic sanctions would speed that up dramatically.

Taiwan could also wire up all the TSMC semi-conductor factories to be destroyed if it looks like China will take the country.

    There would be no point.

yeah that would damage the **** out of them, too. there's a whole host of reasons why it would be insanely stupid for China to **** around and find out.

the semi-conductor stuff is the reason they want Taiwan..and the reason why they better not try it

China is struggling to keep their own country from imploding. Give them enough energy and food to keep them from desperation. Let them provide weapons to Russia. Eventually Russia will need those goods and services instead of weapons.

Those aren't designed specifically for air superiority. The number doesn't indicate mission.
