WHAT exactly are you paying if you have to see the ads? Nothing. You can take a break to go peeps during the commercials. C'mon, now.
They are wasting more of my time. I want to watch my 30 min programs in 20 mins skipping the ads. I also like to limit the number of ads my kids watch so I skip them when watching shows I recoreded for them. Otherwise it's Daddy can I have that, daddy can I have that. Can we go to McDonalds? I want a happy meal. And another thing. It's my tv and I want to change the channel when I want to not when some network tells me I can. I switch between football games durring commercials. Why shouldn't I be able to?
Unbelievable. Hell, even DVD's now have commercials that you can't FF through before the movie starts. Anyone notice that when you watch an NFL game on CBS, the announcers spend as much time pimping the network shows as they do announcing the game? I guess CBS figures (and rightly so) that football is the only time anyone watches their lame network, so they better get while the getting is good.
And its the network's broadcast, so they can choose whether to offer you the ability to watch their program only if you follow their terms. I'm not sure the problem here - everyone has the option of what to do.
So whats next. They decide that if you start watching one show then your tv won't switch channels until the show is over? How about they just decide that after you turn you tv on for the first time you can't ever switch to another channel. After all I did decide to watch their broadcast once so by your rational they should be able to decide how long my tv is stuck on their programing. I don't see how they can ever decide when my tv can change channels. Too much corporate power in this country. Freedom and power to the people.
They can't. But the cable company can decide not to send you a signal for those other stations if you're watching a different station. So you can choose between commercials or black screen.
It already does. People pay for HBO and stuff like that over other ad-based channels that play movies. People pay for premium versions of software that don't have ads (Eudora subscription vs. Eudora ad-based, for example).
To be fair, HBO and the other premium channels also have exclusive shows (Entourage, Deadwood, Rome) and unedited movies that would make them more attractive to viewers. I personally wouldn't care for it too much if I turned to an Astros game during a House commercial break just to turn it back and find the same commercials waiting on me.
It's not free. I'm already paying for PREMIUM cable. Timewarner is making a killing off my cable/internet bill.
So let me get this straight: you don't want to pay for anything at all, or do you want to watch REGULAR TV without commercials? I meant REGULAR TV is free, yo.
