Earlier this evening it was reported that a Travis county deputy, Keith Ruiz, was killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Ruiz family during this tragic time. -Turbo

It is sad, indeed. But, what makes this one stand out from the other officers who have been killed in the line of duty? Did you know him or was it in your area? I hear about cops dying in the line of duty all of the time. Unfortunately, it is becoming a rather common occurance for officers to die in the line of duty. It comes with the job...as horrible as that is. They knowingly put their lives on the line every day. Here in the D/FW metroplex, we had a cop pursuing a suspect on foot about a week ago, the suspect stopped running and managed to grab the officer's gun from his holster. He then shot the officer in the head killing him. Later, they caught the dumb b*stard. Let's take a moment of silence for this one, that one, and all the rest of the cops who have died in the line of duty, including Officer Aubrey Hawkins...who was killed by the TX 7. . . . . . . I don't recall anyone saying that this tragedy was any worse than any of the other one's, it just happens to be one that Turbo heard about since he's in the Austin area, I assume. My thoughts go out to the victim and his family.
