We all know that we've got a log jam at the PF position with Taylor, Griffin, & KT. It's also been speculated that either Taylor or KT will be traded before next season. In fact, Doc Rocket said we'll lose one of them by January. So, I put this 3 team trade together to see what reaction I would get. Houston sends KT/Collier/T-Mo to Minnesota. Minnesota sends Marc Jackson to Houston. Minnesota sends Szczerbiak to Chicago. Chicago sends Crawford/Bagaric to Minnesota. Chicago sends a #1 draft pick to Houston. Houston receives Jackson & a future #1 pick. Jackson can play both C/PF & offers us more size than KT. He also brings a low post game to the center position, which we don't currently have. Minnesota has been trying to trade Szczerbiak, with Jackson attached. They get a solid, young PF in KT & a very promising PG in Crawford, which would offer them some insurance in case Brandon doesn't recover. I believe that Collier will be a servicable backup center in a year or two & T-Mo will make a great defensive specialist off the bench & could develop a nice offensive game with a little work. As a side note: It's been reported that Minnesota is going to make a push for Ricky Davis. Chicago gets the SF they've been trying to get for 2 years. It couldn't happen until October, but, should we consider this trade?
I don't think the trade is worth it for us. While we chased Jackson last off season, he plain & simple sucked with the Timberpuppies. I will not include his time at Golden State - most people seem to suck when they play for the GSW ("Gun Shot Wound" - i love oeilpere's comment (i'm pretty sure it was him)). The puppies are trying to trade both of these players for a reason; one chemistry/ego & the other skill/contract. We already have too many players on the roster who can't play & have "hand-cuff" contracts!
Its a great deal not only does it cut all of our forwards down to eddie Nachbar Jackson and walt (if he re-ups), but depth at center with jackson. A #1 pick from chicago= top 1-3 pick.
Let me get this straight...you're saying that we can clear up the logjam at PF by trading for Jackson, who on this team would play PF.
Jackson isn't as good as Kt. Chicago won't give up a #1, unless they're insane, or it's protected for 5 years.
That trade is worth it for us, if the Chi pick is unprotected. We have no use for T-Mo or Collier. KT is a backup player.
I like the trade just for the fact that it would give us another 1st round pick. KT's talents would be waisted here and other than getting a backup SG, I don't really see any other real pressing needs.
Mark Jackson is an expensive BUST! We don't need him here, your trade would be OK. if we got Szczerbiak and a first but you are giving up a little too much. IMHO
Hottodie, you have to clarify the conditions on the #1. If it was unprotected than it'd obviously be worth it. It'd also be obvious that Chicago wouldn't do it. I think it would be lotto-protected at least. Also, what would Minn do with so many mediocre guys? They trade away 2 and get back 5. Plus, I think they want someone who approaches Sczcerbiak's skills in return. KT and Crawford aren't nothing, but they don't add up to Wally either.

JV, I agree that it'd have to have some protection, but I'd attempt to convince Krause to give us next year's pick with a top 5-8 protection, in exchange for the Drew obligation. I might consider a top 10 protected pick, but I'm not sure if I'd do that. As for Minnesota, KT/Crawford were the players that I was thinking would get the deal done. If Minnesota were to drop Collier/T-Mo/Bagaric at the end of the season, they'd be able to shave just over $3 mill off of next year's team salary. If they're successful in signing Davis away from Cleveland, he'd fill the void left by Szczerbiak. My thinking is that Minnesota may want to move Jackson so badly, that they'd accept the deal. However, it might require a draft pick to be thrown their way. I wonder how bad Krause wants Szczerbiak? As for those of you that think Jackson is a bust, it's my opinion that you are mistaken. If we discount the first 60 games of the season when he was in GS, that leaves him just 22 games to learn a new system & blend in with a team that was in the thick of a playoff run. If you'll look at his stats for the first 7 games after the trade, he was putting up some decent numbers. They weren't spectacular numbers, but again, he was learning a new system. I said he could play C/PF. He could fill the same role that 2 players are currently filling (Collier/KT). If, as I believe he will, he returns to his form of two years ago, then we'd have a strong low post presence at the center position to compliment Ming. It would also allow us to plant Cato at the end of the bench, or trade him for a bag of rocks & a cheap cigar.
Jackson did play well for Golden State until he got injured and last year had to learn a new system and played very few games but we can't afford another big contract.
He only makes $3.575 million. By today's standards, that's not a big contract at all. Cato, who is destined to be our backup, makes $6.696 million.
I have a better one than that, lets trade Taylor and Thomas for Hill and a lotto protected pick. We get a bruiser whom everyone says they want for 1 yr and we could dump Taylor's long ridiculous salary.
