Okay, some of you may have read my post with my previous trade idea. I know, completly stupid and would never have worked. You don't have to remind me twice. But I think this one may have a chance and is at least worth a look. But if you don't like wishful thinking, please leave the area right now. New York and Houston have been rumored to be talking trade with the Knicks sending Spreewell and Frank Williams here for Mobley and Cato. That trade works cap wise, you can check it for yourself on realgm.com. The Knick have been talking about this trade, so don't say they would never do it. Anyway, I say pull the trigger. Next, trade Maurice Taylor to the Pistons for Z.Rebeca, H. Davis, and P. Sanchez. I think the Pistons would be willing to do that trade as they need a good back-up power forward. And plus, the Piston are giving us garbage anyway, so they would probably jump on the trade. This also works capwise. It doesn't nessesarily have to be that trade, as long as we get rid of Taylor for equal contracts that expire in a year. It doesn't matter if the players contract is more riduclous than Taylor's, as long as it expires in 1 year. So for next season our starting line-up would be Ming, Griffin, Posey, Spreewell, and Francis. Really only our bench suffers. But here's the sweet part. After next season, Rice, Spreewell, Rebeca, and Davis all become free agents, giving us a grand total of 30,858,416 coming off the salary cap. Thats good enough for 2 max contracts. If we were to do this trade, we would have major cap to spend on people like Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, Steve Nash, Rasheed Wallace, Charlie Ward, and some others. If it was up to me, I'd sign Garnett and maybe have a little left over to maybe sneak in Ron Artest. Although Garnett may ask for too much of the pie to leave for Artest, though worth a try. Then our starting line-up would be: C-Yao Ming PF-Kevin Garnett SF-James Posey SG-Ron Artest PG-Steve Francis This deal is reasonable, and is fair to all teams. In my opinion, in both trades, the Rockets are getting ripped off talent wise, but I would still do it.
AHAHAHAHAHA. I didn't read your post. It's too long. But I saw the bottom part.....KEVIN GARNETT?!?!? Sure... Okay. I haven't heard any rumors about a New York and Houston trade involving LS, FW, CM, and KC. But I would do that trade. LS is still OKAY and Frank Williams has a lot of potential....looks old though. Also.....REALGM is not too honored...Taylor for Z.Rebeca, H. Davis, and P. Sanchez? Uhh...Z Rebraca is going to be better than Taylor. I don't think Detroit would do it. They got Darko and Clifford Robinson already. It's pretty useless for us. Rebraca could be a good backup center for us....he's slow though. Yeah. I agree. They're garbage. I don't know why we would do it....but yeah...let me read the rest of your exciting scenario..... AHAHAHAAHAHA. I read the final part. Awesome man! What a dream!!!!!! Great planning. I loved your fairy tale. No really...if it happened...Rockets would be dominating in their new arena and new uniforms for YEARS.
So you want to totally trash our team on the off chance that Garnett might chose to sign with us? Generally it is a good idea to trade for talent, not throw away good players in the quest for cap room. Not to mention that after resigning Posey, Francis's max contract kicking in, presumably extending Griffin, and the general raises in everyone's contracts, quite a bit of that 30 million is already gone.
I love how Charlie Ward is suddenly in the company of KG, Kobe, Artest, Nash, and 'Sheed. That just cracks me up. Why blow the cap on KG and Kobe when we can have the only Heisman Trophy winning NBA player in Charlie Ward!! If that statement needs any qualification, a) it's sarcasm and b) I'm a Florida State student, so I know about Charlie Ward. Detroit would never trade for Taylor because of his contract. If there's one thing they've shown, it's an utter commitment to cap flexibility. Plus, they have all of their pieces up front now with Darko, Ben Wallace, Okur, and Rebraca, plus Cliff Robinson for the present. Gotta love wishful thinking. Wait a sec...
Okay, I said this in my post. We don't have to trade to Detroit. That was just a team I found with wome players who make money equal to Taylors, and whoes contracts expires in a year. To be honest, I would even thrown in 5 1st round picks. I know we are gonna have to start paying Francis. But all I'm really doing to eliminating the contracts we are gonna have to pay anyway to Cato, Taylor, and Rice. And I only put the likes of Charlie Ward because he would make a good back-up PG. I know its wishful thinking, and even if we can only manage to get 20 million next year instead of the 30 million I projected, we could still have good chance on Garnett or Kobe. I know this is wishful thinking. But it is possible. And plus, what else can we talk about during this broing offseason.
There's another serious flaw in your trade. Spree has a player's option next year for $14.625 million. I find it very difficult to believe he would be foolish enough to opt out of that. Unless, his agent is Duffy. One other thing, Artest will be a restricted FA, which means the Pacers can match any offer he gets. Since we're signing Garnett in your trade, that doesn't leave much (if any) money to offer Artest. By the way, didn't Artest already sign an extension? I'll answer that question. He signed a 6 year $41 million extension on 10/30/02. How about doing some research before proposing a trade?
Well yeah, in normal circumstances I'd rather have Rebraca than Taylor. But Rebraca has a rather serious heart problem, remember? He was thinking about retirement in the middle of last season, and he's still thinking about it. Given this, I think there is at least some chance Detroit would do it. Still, I think they'd rather have the cap room.
LOL....no one is as good as that as you!!!! No one can research trades like you can..........you are the trade master!!
