What an exciting finish to a rather offensively inept game... but 17pts in under a min...wow...PLUS... both Yao and T-Mac, for once, had great games while at the same time winning.

    But...

...take a look at the box score and you'll notice some rather telling and downright nasty numbers. Outside Yao and T-Mac, not one single Rocket player came even remotely close to scoring in double figures. In fact only one other player outside the dymanic duo managed to put 5 on the board, that being Juwan Howard on an impressive 2-10 shooting.

Now I'll admit this is going down as one of the best comebacks in history... but all the win does is mask the problems we had in this game and all season long. We have no shooters. We have no power fowards. And outside a 52sec blitzkrieg from our most explosive player, we have no offense.

I'm hoping this game could light some fire under them and trigger a turnaround, but I'm not holding my breath.

Barrett and Sura create a lot.
Padgett probably could have made some shots..he plays the offense well too.
Mo missed some shots that were pretty close to the basket..

Juwan Howard just BRICKS everything...I think he's better inside...

Jackson and Nachbar are out..they help.

And we should sign Eddie House. And get a power foward.

Hey Coach Van Gundy! I didn't know you came to this board! Dude, celebrate your victory for at least one night before you start grumpitizing again!

I do like Barret and Sura, they provide a spark and energy Ward and Lue couldn't ever do... and really I'm not expecting too much out of Barret in the way of scoring. And Boki and Jackson are out, but neither exactly light it up (well who the hell knows what Boki can do given extended playing time). 2-10 shooting from both our power forwards, no excuse for that.

LOL... I'm not trying to sound grumpy or anything... I think part of me is torn... cause I was all ready to start booin another loss and reaffirm my stance that VG needs to go and then they come back and pick my hopes up again, shed some light onto the season that maybe things will start changing... damn, did VG and his system, this current roster and this season (so far) turn me into a pessimist...hope not :D

JVG and his system had us down 10 with a minute to go...Tmac and Yao's system scored 17 in 50 seconds.

    Hmmmm...which one should we run?

    :)

lol, I hear ya and understand. This team has its problems, but I'm going to enjoy this as long as I can. To me, this game proves that they are one or two players away from being one of the best in the league. Put, at least, one other good shooter, as well as a defensive/rebounded-minded PF on the roster and we are set!

before we dog the rest of the team lets get to the particular problem and dog the one spot that deserves all the dogging.

ok. Its not a team problem. Its a one position problem. And a very very major problem. But again, its a one postion problem.

    A power foward problem.

2-20 shooting from Mo and Howard.

ok, lets deal with that before we start prying at other areas.

You mean like Jesus Parker and All World Ginobilli being 6-20?

Or that we had more FB points?

Or that Rasho was 1-5 with 3 points?

Some of you need to go find a BBS for whatever team you are really a fan of...

Yao and TMac cannot score 80% of the team's points every night and us get to the playoffs. Mo was a totally knucklehead tonight once again. I have no idea why he is in there. And our best shooter is on the injured list.

How do you run an offense when you don't have real good shooters? Do you slow it down and wait for a subpar shooter to wind up shooting the ball from long range, or do you run down the floor and look for a good, quick shot from close range, such as a layup or dunk?

Hey it was a great win and if it leads to a brighter future...a future with nasty, physical, tough power forwards...of decent shooters...a future with an agressive leader tandem of Yao and T-Mac...a future of JVG more willing to fit the offense around his players...then yay!! I really want that to happen...I really want this team to win. This was a great comeback, which I've said a couple times already. And I'm not tryin to dog this team, which I've said as well. But facts are facts....the stats don't lie that our forwards just plain suck and we need to find a better cast (1 or 2 guys) of shooters to fit around our nucleus.

Umm yeah... this was an unbelievable win, I'm not discounting that...and i'm certainly not a hater...I am trying to be a little realistic and not let one win, one pretty kickass win, go to my head.

You're right. I enjoyed this win. I was even impressed by the increased defensive intensity throughout the game even when it looked like we were going to lose. I would have been satisified with the defensive improvement and the hustle that I saw tonight. But, once again, it took a miracle for TMac to pull this one out his ...

And once again, if we do not push the ball and create some helter skelter play as Kenny Smith calls it, then we are putting ourselves in the same position game after game. That is to say, we are going to be very susceptible to any team we play even those that we should dominate. It is so obvious watching this team that they play much better on the offensive end when they are turned loose to do their thing and don't have to worry about working the clock all the time.
