one of cc.net's longest lurkers and diehard Rocket's fan has a good night of entertainment for anyone who likes to laugh. He's too shy to post it himself. hehe

Those who took me up on my offer of free tickets to Barkley's farewell game, might remember The Creative Director of Infernal Bridegroom Productions. He was sitting right next to you.
His new play is pretty damn funny, and he said that he'd love to see some of you rabid Rockets fans come out for some caveman culture at the original Axiom on McKinney and Live Oak. He also said he might actually post if we give the play some props and he can remember his password...lol.

For those interested in getting some culture like that mouthbreather R0ckets03 ;), Infernal Bridegroom (or IBP) represent Houston's best in attracting new audiences to Houston theatre. They are comprised of hometown talent who are devoted to the Houston theatre scene and strive to expand it.
This represents their 9th year writing plays for "non-theatre types." You won't have to wonder "what did that mean" to be entertained, and only $5.99.

Their latest play is a pure comedy. mr. oily, it safe for your parents, too. Take them out tonight...don't wait!

I'm not much of one for critiquing plays, much less Rock operas, lol, but this one is easy.

It is a post-apocalyptic comedy that laughs at a doomed world's desparate need for subplots, shticks, and soliloquy's . . . because without them, all you have left to do "eat, sleep, f*ck, dig and kill" . . . like a caveman. soooo sad, isn't it.

As someone who is/was familiar with IBP, I definitely agree that people should look into anything they put together.

How long is it running? I will be in Houston in 2 weeks and wouldn't mind checking it out.

Please go to the best poster thread and vote for Crispee - those who said they would vote for him if he still posted can now change their vote :).

Although your posts mostly went on my nerves, I kinda missed being annoyed by them :D.

Thanks for the plug, heypartner. As promised, here's my (very) belated reply. (For those who don't know, heypee's always trying to lure me out of my lurking. I promised to post if he'd come out of retirement to plug the show.)

The show's called IN THE UNDER THUNDERLOO. It was our first production back in 93 and starred local blues diva Carolyn Wonderland. It was a huge hit then and it's a huge hit now. It takes place at the dawn of time and the end of the world, and features dinosaur cops, philosophical cavemen, rayguns, pumpkin people and loud rock music. The company's Infernal Bridegroom Productions, the same folks who bring you Tamalalia every Summer. Two years ago, Tamalalia featured a scene with all of history's greatest villians: Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Skeletor and the Utah Jazz.

We're all huge Rocket fans (delayed a performance for almost an hour in 97 to watch the end of a playoff game), and we love it when clutchcity types make it out to the show.

Everett Evans of the Houston Chronicle calls THUNDERLOO “funky, cool and offbeat.” Lee Williams of the Houston Press says THUNDERLOO “burns up the stage with apocalyptic hellfire and damnation. This may be the end of the world, but it's a lot of wild fun to watch.”

We've got five more performances: March 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 8pm. The show's at the legendary punk rock club The Axiom, which some of the old folks may remember as the coolest club Houston's ever seen. 2524 McKinney (five blocks east of the GRB Convention Center), at the corner of Live Oak. Call 713-522-8443 for tickets.

And visit our website at www.infernalbridegroom.com. Our forum features posts by heypartner, rockHEAD and mr. oily. We'd love to see more of you posting there.

While I'm here, big thanks to Clutch and the rest for a great site. I'm here several times a day, but only post every couple years.

Hope to see you all at the show.

BGM,

Hope you make it. The 9th's a great night to come. Closing night's always one of our better performances, followed by one of our better parties. This closing will be huge, though.

We'll be screening George Hixson's video of Clown Town directly after the show, then we've got a record release party from Blessitron 4000.

For those who don't know George's work, he's the coolest photographer in town, having worked for PublicNews, the Other and the Press, specializing in documenting all that is best about the Houston underground.

For those who don't know about Clown Town, it was an outrageous party thrown a month or so back by some local art types. They rented out a floor of a Holiday Inn and everyone got dressed up as clowns and pirates. There were hundreds of people there who got wasted and trashed all the rooms, which brought out the cops to close the thing down. The video is supposed to be hilarious.

Blessitron 4000 features members of the IBP band, Slump, Different Kind of Monkey and (for the oldtimers out there) elevator up and Circus Glass.

All that plus the final night ever of Thunderloo. Not to be missed...
