I would like to see and tryout these frontcourt rotations for extended minutes: (1) Yao and Swift (2) Deke and Howard Presently, we have the following frontcourt rotation: (1) Yao and Howard (2) Deke and Swift (3) Yao and Swift (limited minutes) My observations: Deke and Swift do an outstanding job of shutting down the paint when in together; however, on offense, the team essentially becomes a jump shooting team. The way they both shut down the lane when in together, is so good, that is almost becomes redundant. I think a rotation consisting of Howard and Deke might better compliment each other strengths and weaknesses (on offense and defense), just as I think a rotation of Yao and Swift would do the same. This is not to say that Swift should start over Howard, but I do think we should try out different in game combinations. Maybe JVG has already tried this in practice and has ruled it out as not feasible. All I know is that with all the different combinations seen in the preseason and so far this regular season, this was not one of them. Lastly, i'm tired of people being labeled on this board as "JVG bashers" when they offer the slightest of criticism of the coach. Mcgrady's injury had nothing to do with the last two losses. (for godsake we lost to Orlando/-Hill and the Hornets). I partly blame these losses on JVG for not taking full advantage of the preseason. This team is obviously lacking identity and chemistry right now. With 3 significant additions to this team, JVG was playing Bowen and Moochie 30 minutes a game during the preseaon. People on this board and even the players were complaining about the lack of playing time on the court together. And although, I still have great faith and trust in JVG after what he did last season, Les should, nevertheless, institute a no-tolerance policy (punishible by fine), that prohibits Wesley and Bowen from being out on the court together at the same time.
Sorry. Losing your primary offensive weapon, and 24 PPG has quite a bit to do with losses in which your team struggled offensively.
