George Lynch Ok, I'm almost ashamed to admit I would like him on the Rockets, but here's why. He is a tremendous rebounder for a small forward. He averaged 7.8/game last year getting most of his minutes at the 3. This would help offset the pathetic rebounding of Taylor and Cato. He is a large, athletic hustle player and a tremendous defensive small forward. In other words, everything that Walt Williams is not. His hustle, defense, and rebounding at the 3 would blend nicely with the offense of Walt or Langhi creating a yin/yang situation at the 3 similar to the situation with Anderson and Cat at the shooting guard. He's also managed to develop into a good 3pt shooter hitting in the 40% range for the last 3 years. He is signed long term for a contract at a role player's price. No Leaving via free-agency. No getting a huge raise & destroying our cap. He's locked in through 2005 at about 2.5 mil/per. Great role-player value. He's capeable of sliding to the 4 for stretches to backup Mo Taylor. He started in the league as an undersized 4 and his offensive game is certainly compatable with Mo Taylor's. Toni Kukoc just signed for the big bucks in Philly. Now he wants to start, and Larry Brown made some comments implying that the job was his to lose. Great for everyone except Lynch, who is happy with his meager (relatively) pay because he was told that he was the starter. OOPS. George is kind of mad. This might be the right time for both parties to part ways, and so he might be a little more available that he was just a few days ago. [/list=a] Think of him as a bigger Mario Elie, or possibly a player to fill the type of role that Robert Horry used to fill. Either way, I think he's perfect for the Rockets right about now. Any Comments? [This message has been edited by Ottomaton (edited August 24, 2000).]
Ottomaton, You are 100% on the money. George Lynch has an amazing amount of untapped talent that will be wasted on the Sixers. This guy is incredibly athletic and is a real diamond in the rough. I can't believe his contract is only 15m/6 years. He was a winner at UNC and still has a winners' attitude. ------------------ GATER
Do you think the 76ers would like to have a trade exception? I know they wouldn't get all of it since Lynch's salary doesn't even match the exception (unless other players were added). It would give them some flexibility. Maybe we could offer a pick as well. I'd love to have him. The only problem is I always think of the guitar player from Dokken when I hear his name. ------------------
Sounds good to me... now what do you want to give up to get him ? Also, how do you think this will affect the Mobley/Anderson minutes dilemna? ------------------ David Falk is a MoFo. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Definitely agree on Lynch. Guy is a good rebounder, good defender, and can score a little bit too. Great call! I doubt Larry Brown would be giving this guy up for nothing though. Having Lynch on the bench would be big for the Sixers though because Tyrone Hill and Theo Ratliff have been known to be injury prone. ------------------ "Somebody DO something out there." -Bill Walton
I would cry happy tears if we added Lynch. He is such a good defender and a scrappy player! He can score too. I agree.....sign him up! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Funniest thing I've seen in a long time! You have to respect anyone that knows who the guitar player from Dokken is.
LOL Freak! Can´t believe anyone recognized the guy´s name! Well, i personally like Dokken a whole lot more than Lynch Mob... what do you guys think? Back for the Attack was their best record, IMHO. ------------------ "The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It´s Heaven and Hell!"
I vote YES for George Lynch. I don't think they would let him go though. He is instant defense off the bench, and he is a bargin considering his contract. If I were part of Philly management, I would not consider trading Lynch. ------------------ "There is no controlling legal authority", - Al Gore, upon discovery that he clearly broke campaign fundraising laws.
