2 homeruns, 7 rbis in one inning. 30 Hrs, and 100 RBIs for the season. 12 straight years with 30, 100+.
Impressive, if only they didn't cost $800k a piece. I don't know how you renegotiate in the middle of a $250 million contract with a straight face.
Blah blah blah. The whole sport has been a joke for over a decade when it comes to "cheating", why can't you accept the fact that very few players can connect bat to ball like Barry Bonds and A Rod can. Their accomplishments shouldn't be diminished because they were victims of their era.
its just one cheater in a sea full of cheaters. i'd like to see any of you go out there and pull a third those numbers while juicing...
I think baseball is a game of skill for the most part, and the (important) players who are caught have shown themselves to be talented without steroids. A-Rod and Bonds were both hall of fame bound, anyway. Both are still first ballot, regardless of allegations and are still probably amongst the greatest ever.
Actually, they should. It's one thing to say they aren't good players - something nobody has said. But in a thread that is purely about an amazing string of statistics, then yes, those accomplishments should be diminished considering the likelihood of them being the same without the steroid use is effectively zero.
And exactly how is this different from football, soccer, pretty much all olympic events, hockey, boxing/mma, etc...?
I never followed baseball much, but now cheating is the norm these days? Seems like many fans are contempt players cheat since "you couldn't put up 1/3 of the numbers even if you were juiced". This just blows my mind. So you are basically saying they are a better cheater than the rest of us so that makes it ok?
i'm glad I blew your mind. It's a game and there will always be cheaters. I don't necessarily agree on how the MLB has dealt with this issue, but let's face it....Quit whinning and deal with it. Or alternatively, you can simply stop going/watching the games.
Impressive... Especially since he missed the first month and a half of the season. 12 years in row = a great accomplishment. I'll be rooting for the Yanks to win it all
wow. i knew he had 25 hr's with a few weeks to go and since i hadn't seen his name with a homer on the bottom line in a while i just assumed the 30 hr streak was going to come to an end. to not only keep the 30 hr streak alive, but to also keep the 100 rbi streak alive, and both on the dot, with a 3 run homer and grand slam in the same inning, with 3 innings to go in the entire season, is pretty amazing.
Please...... You would still be sitting on your ass even if you did take steroids. He is a rare talent with or without steroids.
