C'mon Drayton. Step up to the plate and offer him 10-years $300 million.

I wouldnt worry about that...Ramirez has tied up enough money from the Cubs to play 3rd.

Interesting to see where Arod would go...I think it'd be funny if the Red Sox signed up. That would be a nice F you to Yankees fans.

anyone else think he's gonna make more than 27-28 million per season? 30 million/yr is hard for me to comprehend any one team offering him.

I could see the Sox going after him. A little payback for stealing Damon from them.

ARod can play SS. The guy won a gold glove as one after all.

Its also interesting if the Red Sox go after him. Lowell had a career year so resigning him would be natural. Or they could also grab ARod and flip him to SS and dump Lugo.

I have a hard time seeing anyone paying him more than he's making now.

Somebody will, and Boras knows that... otherwise they wouldn't have opted out (Yankees were ready to give him more already... $30 million/year for 3-5 years).

OMG, the A-Rod curse is over!!!

I hope it will still be true that every team that A-Rod left become immediately better the next year.

I expect a heck of season for Yankees in 2008!!!

Just hope it won't be the last place of AL East.

Boras is a magician. He already makes more than anyone else in baseball. Why would a team pay him more? It doesn't make sense to me.

Is there anyone making more than $20 million not on the Yankees? I'm not seeing anyone, but I'm just clicking through links of different teams payrolls.

Good for him. Only in NYC does the best player in the game have to put up with persistent 'harassment' by an arrogant media / spoiled fan base.

Baring something preposterous, it looks like he'll go back to the Yankees for a even bigger salary.

This may be one time where Boras overplays his hand. If it's true the Yanks were going to extend him at $30MM/yr, no other team will do that. I think it's also possible A-Rod just wanted to leave New York behind. He made a lot of money and put up great stats but he didn't seem to enjoy it at all. Anywhere else he goes will have a lot less pressure and scrutiny.

The Yankees say they won't resign him if he opts out.

If any gm gives him 30 mil they should be fired. No one player is worth 30mil.
