I know im going to get heat about this but its just a simple question. In no regards am i trying to imply anything but has anyone ever thought of how this team would be if Avery Johnson or Calvin Murphy coached this team? I didnt like the Mavs but I did like the coaching style of Johnson. He knew the game from both side as a player/coach. Given the talent the Rockets have compaired to the Mavs, how would you see the team under Johnson? Now Calvin is a type of coach that i could see not picking favorite players. He is more about winning than having the "super stars " out on the court. He is aggressive and knowledgeable about the NBA, good mentor, and knows how to win. How would you see him as the coach of this Rockets team? Once again, this is just questions. Im not trying to blast anything or disrespect. Just asking for some opinions or some thoughts on this
Avery Johnson was a good coach. I think RA is better. And be4 I'm to fire yet another coach, I'd honestly trade our stars. Just my 2 cents.
Thats true. I honestly feel bad for RA. I think he tried to get peoples faith in TMAC back when he put the game on in his hands last night on that final play. Hes a good coach with just bad luck this season so far
With home games coming up, give them some practice time. We have plenty of hard nosed role players which should make it easier. Just once our stars get their heads out of their asses we should start winning. I'd give this team until the end of this year's playoffs to decide which direction to go in. Personally, I'd blow up our stars if we fail yet again. I'd keep the coach and the role players.
RA just makes bad decisions when it comes to subs........Yao sits in stretchs that are to long, Wafer played just 7 minutes last night where as Aaron Bricks played 18 - 20 minutes.......**** like that just do not make any sense to me at all
They make sense enough. If Yao played heavy mins, 35 +, and got injured again, how'd you feel? Wafer, as great as he is on offense, he's just as terrible on defense. Everyone's been complaining about our defense, sit back and think, when did our defensive slump start? W/o looking at the #s I could say it was when Wafer was starting.
I personally think Adelman is over-rated. JVG had more passion, better strategic moves, and more discipline on the players. Too bad. I actually think that Sam Mitchell got the shaft. I think he finally made the Raptors a legit team, and then lost his job, after rebuilding them up to play-off status. Too bad Scotty Brooks has another gig.
we never played defense all year in my opinion.....Wafer will play just as good as Aaron Bricks, plus he scores more efficent, and he is a bigger body.....I can take what you say about Yao with no problem but why sign Deke and not give him some of Hayes minutes? They both do the same **** just Deke is a little taller and will block more shots.......Once again Rick Assdman is making tuuurible decisons
I never found Avery to be much of a coach. He had a team full of veteran, smart players and his style kept them motivated for a while. Then, they seemed to quit on him. RA is tough to figure out. He has the credentials but with the game evolving in some ways and going backwards in other ways I just don't know if he has the skill or the drive to deal with today's NBA. Some of his decisions have been horrible and I think we can all agree on that. A lot of fans here somehow failed to realize that JVG brought the best out of Yao and got the most out of McGrady. I don't know if JVG could ever get this team to the Finals (not sure this team can get there period) but I know he did tap every bit of ability and effort from the players he had. I certainly think this year's team would have a much better record with JVG coaching.

Its easy to criticize the coach. I do it too, but honestly coaches are one of those "you don't know what you had til they're gone" situations. I don't know who I'd want instead of him and definitely don't think there are any available coaches who are an upgrade (of course, JVG could upgrade our defense, but we've been there).
I'm not so sure if it was Jeff's coaching ability that got the best out of McGrady and Yao. I am thinking it was more of the players themself. 04/05 Season. That is when Tracy had 13 points in 33 seconds. Most of us know that Tracy can't do that anymore. That is the season where we played Dallas at the 1st round. Tracy was pretty much a superstar then. The pick and roll was dominant with Tracy and Yao. 05/06 Season I think this was the injury season... 06/07 Season This was Jeff last season. Tracy was still pretty darn good and carried the team when Yao was out. Yao blossomed before his injury into a great player. Even with the blossomed Yao and a pretty good Tracy we lost to the Jazz. Now Tracy has never been the same. Hell... 13 points in 33 seconds? You think Jeff had a huge impact on that? Tracy missing a wide open three (air balling it) against New York. That was a good play in my opinion. Tracy missing some gimmes when we lost the lead to Philly. It's not Rick's fault that Tracy has declined. Tracy declined. It has nothing to do with the coach change.
