Does everybody remember in 1995 after the NBA Finals, Hakeem and Shaq were supposed to play a one on one match in Atlantic City? Well that was back when Hakeem was in his absolute prime and right now Shaq is in his prime. My question is, if you took the old Hakeem and put him up against the present day Shaq in a game (2pointers & 3 pointers, no free throws) in a game to 30, who would win and by how much? My analysis: Hakeem 30 Shaq 22. Why? Hakeem has a better outside game and about a billion moves inside to give him the edge.

That doesn't matter anymore. Hypotheticals get you nowhere.

Hakeem would win 30-10. No contest. Hakeem has range all over the floor, and has an array of moves unmatched by any center in NBA history. Hell, I think he could beat him at his current age. Shaq is a one-move guy, and he couldn't handle the Dream.

Actually, I believe Hakeem called it off due to a sudden burst of shame -- uhh, I mean a strained back. I'm glad he didn't do it, though I'd have preferred it if he never scheduled it in the first place. I think Dream would have won too, for this reason: he can dribble better than Shaq. Both are the type to ordinarily establish position in the low post and then be fed the ball. Playing 1-on-1, you have to get position with the ball. Since Dream has got more foot speed and agility and has quicker hands, I think he could fairly effectively keep Shaq from getting deep enough to hit his shot.

Does no free throws mean no fouls, if so I give the edge to Shaq. He has more strength.
