Man I wanted to throw my remote at the screen after the way he butchered "O Canada" at the All-Star game. Can't they just sing the song? * glares at Glenn Lewis and the NBA.
i just posted something similar in the Hangout about the NAtional Anthem! Please just sing the songs....if you need to add a little individual personality, try to do it tastefully, and WITHOUT making the anthems 10 minutes long, or a tribute to your voice coach who taught you how to sing in 15 different octaves....
At least there were a couple lines in the American anthem left untouched - although I definitely agree with you. I really don't like the way all these singers feel that they have to do a remix of the songs.
I don't mind artists using come creative liberty with the song, but my God, when they turn the songs into a "call of the wild", it gets insane. The guy that sang O' Canada yesterday that looked like Kid Rock was just unbearable. I didn't think it could get any worse and then today happened. Patti Labelle trying to contact alien space probes or communicate with whales, Alicia Keys and whoever singing some song I've never heard of, and Mr Lewis suffering from oxygen deprivation throughout his entire rendition.
