What are some things that interest you that are a little weird/different/nerdy? What are some things that you find intriguing that are not common interests of other people that you know?

    I'll start it out.

This is gonna come across as weird, but...

I've always found serial murderers and, general, repeat criminals interesting. For some reason it's just always struck me as interesting as to why people do these types of things. I guess, in general, I always wonder why people do the things they just do, not necessarily committing crimes. But the criminal side of it interests me the most.

I found a book on the subject and started to read it today. That's what kind of provoked this thread. That, and I wanted to do something opposite of the pet peeves thread...

Serial killers also interest me. I really like watching tv shows like "unsolved mysteries" and "20/20" for that reason.

Another intereset of mine that is somewhat peculiar is that I am a Hurricane fanatic. Hurricane season is my favorite time of the year. I stay up all night watching tv coverage of a landfalling Hurricane.

Also, I am really intereseted in astronomy. In particular astro physics, or learning about the universe and anything that has to do with how it was created and where it is going...

I love to watch storms. I'll turn off the tv, even pause a Rockets game to sit on the balcony and watch a nice thunderstorm / front coming in.

Tonight it was beautiful, so much lightning.

wow dude I was about to say the exact same thing.. I've always found astro physics and those "astrophysicists" who talk about this stuff on TV so freaking interesting...I've always wanted to be an astrophysicist, too bad I later discovered that it's not really something you could make a living out of.. as a matter of fact, I find the mediocrity in my grades in college a direct result of me not pursuing what I'm really interested in and instead going for something that slightly interests me but guarantees a good living (chem engineering) ..

I was really interested in reading that kind of stuff for years, but not so much now. As of late I've been reading a lot about the history of public transportation, particularly subways.

I used to be obsessed with morbid related items on Ogrish (now LiveLeak). I think I've seen every single beheading video also. Also like watching street fights on Youtube.

I'm a pretty calm, caring and compassionate person, but for some reason I like watching the dark side.

I don't think this is that weird, but I love audio books. My wife makes fun of me because I ALWAYS have to have my ipod with a book on it. I tell her that I might have and Ipod emergency, like going to the bathroom. I would rather listen to a book than watch TV, except for sports teams that I care about.

The funny thing is that it's very hard for me to listen to music. I make a living playing music, but I have to really make myself listen to music if I'm going to learn a song.

I like listening to people... It's astonishing what people will tell you if you really listen, and ask the right questions the right way.

Most of what people say is BS, but even that tells you how they want/expect to be seen. Most people are boring but there is a great payoff to finding someone truly interesting.

I'm another for physics. All that theoretical stuff blows my mind. Anything philosophical in general, really.

Strippers. I know, I know....but it's really not 100% like that: imagine the classic examples of low self-esteem, mental, physical, sexual abuse, substance abuse, etc. and all other nuances in between, but strippers (and people in p*rn) fascinate the hell out of me. Seems a contradiction to feel so terribly about oneself only to get up on stage naked for all the world to see. Some of the most interesting people I have ever met were strippers. Then again, I also have a healthy interest in....

....Psychology. The way the mind works has always been of interest to me. I was a counselor for many years, which only built on this. I'm always a bit shocked when people aren't interested in psych, but oh well.

Religion, mythology, and folklore. I can talk for hours on this one.

Nothing bores me more than the standard 8-5 job, house and spouse in the 'burbs, 2.5 kids and a Volvo.

That's all for now. Off to class....
