Charles Bronson, a man's man actor before the Stallones and Schwartzeneggers, is dead at 81. In his honor, I'm going out to rent "Hard Times," my favorite of his movies although not his most notable.
Yeah, I really liked the guy in The Magnificent Seven, The Dirty Dozen, and ofcourse Death Wish. Dittos on the real man's man actor...
D.R., if you liked those movies, you need to see him in "Hard Times" with James Coburn, Strother Martin and his wife Jill Ireland.
My favorite Charles Bronson movie is "Once Upon a Time in the Old West," one of the greatest westerns ever made.
Yep, I liked that one too. "Hard Times" is my favorite because it capitalizes on his tough guy image but has a lot of wry humor, intensity -- well, it allows him more range than in any of his other movies.
The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape are two of my favorite movies. RIP, Charles. getsmartnow beat you: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63822
Are you sure he's dead? It seems that in many of his movies, the bad guys would THINK that Bronson was dead, but he really wasn't, and he'd come back and kick their asses. +
Maybe in that moment of silence you should have looked at some of the other threads and seen this one: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63822
I checked the first page of the BBS Hangout and just glanced at page two for anything on Bronson. My apologies to Getsmartnow for the oversight. Maybe this was Bronson's way of coming back from the dead after everybody thought he was dead.
