I know a lot of us were pumped to see this. It's finally gone to a wide release. I have to wait until Monday but it's on my "must see" list.
It was just in a limited release. Not everyone lives in a large, cultural, vibrant city like you, you know?
Yeah, I saw this last weekend. Great flick. I actually liked it better than Waiting for Guffman and Best In Show. The folk music itself was damn good. The only thing I disliked about it was Eugene Levy (unfortunately). His character grated on me after a while. "Wha happened!?"
Agree abut Levy...It was interesting to watch for a little bit, but it just got annoying. Very dissapointed in that aspect, but the rest was great.
I loved this movie, and I've seen it twice so far. I wouldn't mind seeing it again. This show is so well acted, and very interesting. I know a lot of it is impoved but it's also written. Levy and Guest are the writers and did a lot of research on the folk scene, and I think it shows in the depth that are displayed in the characters. Levy didn't really bother me, beacause it seemed right for that character and his history, though I could see if there was too much more of him in the movie, it might start to grate on my nerves. I was going to post a review of this show, but I got busy, and then sick, so I haven't been able to visit the BBS lately. The songs are brilliant, the ensemble is great, and Fred Willard, as always, is hilarious. If I had the clout and resources to make the films I wanted to I would love to do something like this and work an ensemble like Gust does. It might not be in the faux documentary format, thought. Anyway 'A Mighty Wind' is a must see. It's sad that comedic acting doesn't get the respect that dramatic acting does, because almost the whole cast should be up for Oscars for this film.
