Seems like it's a pretty done deal. I think we should go ahead and sign him - we all know how much we need a brute and I think JvG will do a better job controlling him than George Karl... and a winning situation always helps.

Also interesting to see what kind of influence Yao has on disruptive people like Mason. Bonzi anyone?

I said it a couple of weeks ago when this story emerged, please, JVG, do not be a Mase man.

Let's all move on, not Mas-on.

A bit of a locker room cancer, is Mase. Unless he and JVG got along well, which I don't remember.

mase is a guy who can help griffen immensly. mase can push griffen hard in many ways. practise he can push him around and teach him things that only a banger like mase knows. he can also teach or give EG the mean streak that is sorely lacking, for all he's faults mase has never been called a quiter or soft. mase is the enforcer what the rockets sadly lack right now. he'll retire in 1 or 2 years just in ime when the rockets can be considerd a contender, by then he would have left he's mark on griffen. mase is what griffen needs at this point to develope farther ahead.

But if you think about it, what's there to lose by signing him? It's not like we have great chemistry last 5 years to begin with to break anything.

I've been thinking the same thing. I don't know, maybe if Mase has the right coach and the right team. Milwaukee must have been a frustrating situation.

As far as developing Eddie, well, I don't know. Mase might not be, um, the nurturing type. I'd think about bringing him in as a 20mpg power forward, the bruiser to protect Yao.

Did JVG and Mase, in general, get along well? As well as one can get along with the guy?

I have less of an issue with Mase's issues than I do with how he holds onto the ball in the post, which, I believe, is supposed to be Yao's role. Mase can pass, but he can also Moochie the basketball (dribble, dribble, dribble...)

a bruiser to pound out some minutes at Power Forward/Center -- I like it.

Mase can even put in some minutes guarding centers. Our 4's are not the punisher types.
