Woody Williams was on 610 yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:30pm with Dan Patrick. Woody revealed that he had discussions with the Astros during the offseason and that if the Astros had come within 30% of the St. Louis offer, he would have signed with us to come home. He stopped short of saying 40%, but only because he realized the sensitivity of the subject at hand.

I found this interesting...we could really use him right now with the way he is pitching.

i can't remember what he signed for...but i remember saying at the time i wouldn't pay that much for a pitcher who is as injury prone as woody williams.

and of course that was before we released shane reynolds.

I believe he signed for around 14.5 million for 2 years.

With a 30% hometown discount that would amount to $10.15 million over two years.

Williams said the Astros told him that their main focus was adding another big bat to the lineup.

If it was a choice between Kent and Woody, I'll take Kent every day of the week.

I would too. I just found it interesting that Woody would have signed for less to play in Houston. And I found it more surprising that he would say that now after the fact.

Woody Williams is a career 5-1 with a sparkling 2.87 ERA when pitching at Minute Maid Park.

Why, oh why couldn't he have been signed along with Jeff Kent.

Damn, isn't this around the amount we had planned to pay Renyolds if he met certain stipulations? Woody made sense to me during the offseason and he makes even more sense now.
