Don't bother. Same thing, different thread. I think everyone is a little quick to jump on Steve. I'm not thrilled with his apparent dissatisfaction with drafting Ming, but he hasn't done anything (demand trade, not sign extension) yet. I think we should give him credit for playing through migraines, and getting out there with a shoulder injury bad enough he needs 4 months of rehab after surgery. A guy just concerned about numbers wouldn't fight that hard. I think all this criticism is premature. Sorry, I'd just delete this if I knew how. I'll get this thread starting thing figured out someday.
There are about 6 or 7 threads that are talking about basically the same thing. Why don't you just post in one of them?
If Steve would show a little more respect to Rudy and CD, perhaps more people would give him some respect. You say people that bash Steve are criticizing him prematurely, but what about Steve? He's criticizing Ming prematurely considering he's probably barely even seen the guy play. Sure, some people could be overreacting a bit, but wouldn't you say Steve is overreacting as well. Drafting Ming is not the end of the world. I don't see why he has to get all pissed off because the Rockets are going to draft him.
Let's face it Steve would be a monster at SG, but he refuses to admit it. This is more about attitude than anything else. Steve is not the best point guard and everyone knows it except Steve. He should put the team 1st and move to SG.
Hold on Hold on. First of all, how is Steve being disrespectful. Has he criticized Ming yet? Has he criticized Rudy or CD? No, infact, the only thing he's worried about is the fact that he hasn't seen him play therefore isn't confidant in Ming's abilities. If your future depended on Ming, and you don't know a thing about him, wouldn't you be skeptical? I can't believe that not saying anything bad in the media and keeping his feelings to himself is OVERREACTING. So far, all we know is that Steve isn't happy with Ming, but in here, that is grossly blown out of proportion and turned into "Steve is gonna sabatoge the team," "Steve is going to demand a trade," "Steve will freeze Ming out," "Steve is a racist," "Steve is a crybaby," "Steve sucks as a player," ect., ect., blah, blah, blah. I agree with WinkFan about Steve's true nature. There was a time in here when people couldn't stop complaining about Steve being too unselfish and that we needed him to take more shots. Now, suddenly he is a stat monger. The shoulder injury and the migraines are another example. One of my favorite Astros, Bagwell, is considered a tough and hard working player. He had the same injury and like Steve, he played through the pain. How come Steve isn't being called a hard worker or tough after he played through that injury and with migraines without any hope of the playoffs like in Bagwell's case. How many of us would go to work with a head splitting, blindness inducing migraine? Yeah, you know you would call in sick. Steve doesn't take sick days, he only misses games when he can't hide his pain from Kieth or Rudy and convince them that he's fine. These are the things that makes Steve a warrior. Does he have some problems? Yes, but they aren't anything that can't be fixed. If you don't want to respect Steve, then at least cut him some slack until he does do something to anger us and the city. Also, about Steve being a SG, I don't see it happening. I'm pretty sure there is only one succesful SG who is 6-3 or under and his name is A.I. Sure steve was a great SG in college, but you only have to be 6-5 to be a PF for a lot of teams. Also, he'd have to play more like Iverson, taking tons of shots where defenders can't block him. Is that what we want? Not to mention the suspect defense. Do you guys want Steve to have to guard guys like Kobe, Vince, T-Mac, EJ, Houston, Allen, Richardson, and Finley?
Oski2005, I like your responses regarding Stevie. I think you should start a thread aimed towards the Stevie Bashers.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I just think it's ridiculous the stuff that Steve haters have been coming up with. I mean, I can make up stuff to make Steve look the complete opposite of the way people have been painting him. I think it's probably the only way Steve haters will know what levelheaded people think when they read their posts, so here goes. Steve endorses Reebok, right? And unlike Nike, Reebok is a huge supporter of human rights. Now, Ming comes from China, a country that has a questionable human rights record. Maybe Steve is just upset of having his team give money indirectly to China by way of Ming's contract. Farfetched, I know.
i know, and there are like 6 or 700 threads talking about basically the same things about yao ming. fck it, i guess it's a trend and winkfan's just being trendy. it's all good, no need to single him out.
