For those of you who watched Survivor II, did you think it was friendlier than the last one? I saw about half of the first one and then the last episode, and it just seemed like all the top players were jerks. I didn't want any of them to win the money. This time, I didn't watch any of it except today's epidose, but I really liked both of the finalists, and even most of the 7 voters. Maybe I didn't see all the earlier backstabbing, but did they all seem like "better people" than the first set? ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
It's just not fair. Colby should have won! He played the game much better than Tina the Barfer . He won all those immunity challenges and prizes. Tina probably got the 4 votes when she talked about how she is going to put money in an account to let it accrue interest and give the interest to a family in need. Yes, it was much nicer this time around. COLBY SHOULD HAVE WON! STUPID JURY! Surf ------------------
The fact Tina won makes this show a complete joke. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
I only caught the final minutes during that lame helicopter ride. How the hell did Tina make it to the final round? Did she win immunity or what? Anyway, I hardly ever watched this show because the people were boring. I really couldn't stand Tina, and I know I'm going to avoid the tv for the next week so I won't have to see her doing interviews and going on Letterman. This hardly even seemed like a competition... they were all just too nice to each other. Lame! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited May 03, 2001).]
The fact Tina won makes this show a complete joke. Why is that? (Remember, this is the only episode I've seen) Only a part of the game is the physical side... It seems she won the other part. Colby had the chance to eliminate Tina, but he didn't do so. It seems to me that there are two separate goals: (1) Make the final two -- whether by immunity, staying out of the spotlight, or whatever (2) Make the last 7 people like you. Both Tina and Colby did #1 (in different ways), and Tina did #2 slightly better, no? ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
I think number 2 is more like, in Tina's case, make sure 4 of the 7 final people are women. Colby screwed up by letting Tina go up against him, but I think he played the game the best by a long, long shot. Tina didn't play this game any better ... She got in on an alliance that carried her to the final two and from there the women carried her. BTW, am I the only one who thinks if Colby had given Jerri what she wanted from him all along (sex), he'd be $900,000 richer? ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited May 03, 2001).]
Colby didn't just f*ck up. He quit. He pulled a "no mas," a David Robinson in the 95 playoffs, the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl. Getting to the finals was good enough. Therefore, I have no respect for his play, even if he did win the final 5 immunities and 2 of the last 3 reward challenges. Alicia said that she wanted to find out who was still playing to the end, and the only one who kept playing was Tina. She had Colby eating out of her hand by the end. So it wasn't a joke. She earned it way more than Colby. I'm just surprised it was 4 to 3. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
I wonder if she's really gonna give that money to a family ? If she is, then more power to her. If she isn't........ That's alot of work for charity, but she did get alot of exposure. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
She's not giving jack to charity. If she does anything at all, she said she would give "interest" earned off just "part" of the money. What I want to know is how many of her girlfriends are lining up to be her "best friend" and have their house paid off. Colby made a stupid move, but Kelley in the first Survivor made the "smart move" and lost. I actually thought it could turn out to be a smart move because it showed he was a good person, recognizing the better player. It didn't make him look like he was going for a "free win". The way people are viewing "how they played the game" is getting real silly. FACE IT: Had the chef been there in the end against Colby they would have analyzed his play as great too... "Wow.... I thought he was a real jerk who didn't play well, but look at him. He's in the final two and he was a jerk. That's an incredible accomplishment! He had us all fooled. He's a total effin' genius!" Face it -- how one plays the game "well" is not defined at all in this game. Tina did nothing but coast under the umbrella of Colby, then pulled it out with a few gender lines in the end. But in hindsight, guess it was stupid because bottom line: HE LOST. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Colby's a Texan. He's got integrity.... ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Anybody else hoping that Playboy offers shoots to Elizabeth and Amber (particularly Amber) just like the first Survivor? And that they accept? ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. Sign up for season 2 of the CC.net NBA Sim League! http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum12/HTML/000328.html
She's not giving jack to charity. If she does anything at all, she said she would give "interest" earned off just "part" of the money. That's how most charities work -- endowments. You leave the principal supplied alone and work off of the interest. That way, you have a continuous stream of funds to work with. It is far smarter to do it this way than to just spend it all on a one-time thing. What I want to know is how many of her girlfriends are lining up to be her "best friend" and have their house paid off. Generally, by the time you're as old as she is, you probably already know who your best friend is... It seems you're pissed that Survivor doesn't reward the most athletic/strong person... But we all knew that after the first one. It works with popularity just like The Weakest Link works with knowledge -- the final players are not always the most popular / smartest, but that's a criteria to get anywhere close to winning. FACE IT: Had the chef been there in the end against Colby they would have analyzed his play as great too... Except that he wouldn't have won the whole thing -- that's where the "jerk" part comes in. Being a jerk can get you far is you're smart, but it won't win the whole thing unless you can drag a second jerk into the final two as well. ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets. You say Colby would have won the 1 million dollars by getting the sympathy vote over Keith ? , Lets see , What happened last time in Survivor 1 ? Kelly kicked off Rudy because Rudy would have won for damn sure , But The other members voted for Richard in spite! I think the Women thing had NOTHING to do with the vote , Amber voted for Colby anyways . And if Colby would have gived Jerri what she really wanted I doubt it would have mattered , He would have gotten an even better deal , Screw her and then stab her in the back . Strange how Both Times in Survivor 1 and 2 The people I thought that would be gone quick ended up winning it . Did anyone notice how the vote went the same way it did in Survivor One??? with Tina down 3-2 same as Richard . weird , ... ahh Crap now what am I gonna watch on TV . Hmmm Weakest Link sounds interesting . ------------------ Lisa : Dad did you know The Chinese use the same word for Crisis as they do for Opportunity? Homer: Yes! Crisis-tunity! I highly doubt Elisabeth will pose nude especially since she has a famous fiance who would have something to say about it. ------------------
Hey, thanks Shanna for the unnecessary financial lesson, but my point was only to clarify what, if any, she will give out of the "million". I think it was a ploy by her to tug the heart strings of those wavering. "Oh, I'll give it to charity..." (naturally this got Elizabeth's vote). This after paying off two houses and then "part" of what's left in an account. What amount is she going to put in an account and not move? Lets see what she really does. I just think when one million dollars is being mentioned, it sounds large when you say "charity". That's why I discounted it by clarifying that if she gives anything at all, it will be interest off "part" of the money, a completely undefined amount. I'm "pissed because Survivor doesn't reward the strongest/most athletic person"? Help me out here. Just because Colby won all those challenges? When he answered all those questions about the 16 contestants, beating out Tina to win immunity, what did that have to do with his athleticism? Tine herself said it: She got a whole lot of luck. I just think the show has become a bit of a joke: when Richard, who was an ass, won last year, I could see it since he really had done so much to get where he was. He was smart and crafty. I was impressed. Now, it's kind of silly -- you can view anyone in the final two as playing the game the "smartest" or the "best" based on any angle you choose to view it... whether they did nothing (Tina) or did everything (Colby). ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
You're right -- I stand corrected. I forgot Keith voted for Tina. Another reason Colby should have kicked Tina off at #3.... she probably would have voted for Colby and Keith wouldn't have had a vote (since he would have been in the final 2) ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited May 04, 2001).]
Imagaine if Roles were Reversed . And the Winner of Celebrity Survivor is ... Regis Philbin! Tina , You are the weakest link .. Goodbye! ------------------ Lisa : Dad did you know The Chinese use the same word for Crisis as they do for Opportunity? Homer: Yes! Crisis-tunity!
Colby played with integrity, but he cost himself $900K for being stupid. Alos Liz's fiance will be a QB in Europe so i don't think he is exactly famous (he's an undrafted QB who was signed by Buffalo or someoen to coem to camp). But keep in mind all (or most) of the final 7-8 will make a tone of maoney off endorsemtns. I guarantee Colby won't be a car detailer anymore. He's a good looking guy and surely will be on one of the entertainment shows. Keith will get a cooking show on the food channel, Liz is very attractive and will have her pick of careers, Amber is cute and will find something or someone, Jerri was such a bit$$ she will undoubtedly get an acting job, Nick will now be a famous attorney before he finishes law school and Alicia will have a ton more successes as a personal trainer. Only one who may not have improved her career is Tina, and she doesn't need to worry about it now! But I still loved the show, I admit I'm a survivor-holic!
I think it was a complete joke long before Tina won, my friend. The mere fact that anyone is watching this crap is a joke in and of itself. ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
The only possible explanation I have for Colby's decision to vote Keith off is:- a) He thought it would win him some votes for "doing the right thing" b) He and Tina had an iron clad agreement to vote Keith off and hence guarantee they were the final two. Colby was absolutely the most deserving winner. Don't give me the "its not just a physical challenge" crap - he won the last 5 immunities that included momory tests (the shells with things hidden under them), the Survival in the outback quiz, and the test your knowledge of your peers quiz. Colby was toast if he had lost any of those challenges, but he prevailed under pressure. He most definitely cost himself $900k by voting Keith off. Stupid. Maybe Tina has a little cash set aside for him.... PS - Playboy has already offered Elisabeth money to pose and she said no. ------------------ ..as a man danced so the drums were beaten for him.
