"zong zi" is a Chinese food with long history.
It has a touching tale. But we eat it in June
    every year only.

My wife's step mother is Chinese and she always buys something called Duriane (sp.) for us. Its a fruit that is grown in Thailand and it has a shell like a coconut. Tastes good!

More than 2000 years ago, there is an outstanding minister named Qu Yuan in Chu which
is a big country in "Zhan Guo" times. That is a
confused times and there are seven countries in
mainland. At that time, A country named Qin is
the best powerful country which want to die out
Chu. At the same time, Chu's king is a incapable
guy who not only refuse to accept Qu Yuan's wise idea that can resist Qin but also deport Qu Yuan
    to a remote place.

Qu Yuan felt sadness while watching his country to be occupied by Qin. Thus, he jumped intoa river. People didn't find his body. But people
avoided his body being eaten by fish, as a result,
people thought a method that they made a round
dumpling with rice. This kind of round dumpling
is called "zong zi". Because Qu Yuan commited
suicide in June. So we eat "zong zi" in June
every year only to commemorate Qu Yuan.

Yeah! In fact, many countries have a tradition
to eat "zong zi" including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam.
Even there is the habit to eat "zong zi" in Mexico.
But methods and materials to make "zong zi" exist
    some difference.

On the inside, it's pale yellow melon that is very sweet. On the outside, it's rough and stabs your mouth when you bite into it.

Yo Yao likes to tell touching tales. We've been subjected to his touching tales quite a bit lately. Mostly because he wants to touch some tail...

ashinningpig, i think you're trying to infuse your asian culture to the bbs which is fine, but I am positive there are many other asian folks on this messege board.

It's true. We arent all horse riding, big belt buckle wearing, ten gallon hat wearing, spitting and chewing t'bacco Texans.

Kam is right. There are plenty of Asians on this board. If you bring up the China and Taiwan issue, it brings out all the Chinese posters. Guaranteed minimum four pages of finger pointing. Good times.

White fruit meat under red covering, sweet and delicious. You can get it in cans in Houston's Chinese supermarkets.

Sorry, Kam, I can't understand these sentences
very well. But I know there are many Asians
in Clutchcity. I can only introduce pure
Chinese culture to you. I also hope other
Asians can introduce their culture to us.
Though I use Linux at present, I am impressed by Bill Gates deeply. Even I will
say that Gates change my conception of value.
I also love NBA, especilly, Jordan and Bull's NBA. Oh, I Like Jennifer Lopez and Drew Barrymoe too. :D
HaHa, I like your culture, at the same time,
I like Japanese's, Korea's and so on. I think we
    should understand each other.
