An only-in-L.A. moment also factored in the final decision moments earlier, when Toronto’s Jose Calderon went racing to the sidelines to save a loose ball with 1:48 to play. Before Calderon could get there to attempt an out-of-bounds save, the ball was tipped away by Lapo Elkann, the Fiat heir and international playboy watching from a courtside seat. Elkann, who apologized to Calderon right away, got a loud ovation when he was shown on the overhead scoreboard moments later. “It was a tough play, because it was a two-point game,” Calderon said. “What was he going to do, though?” <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s8OcmO8TZU0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s8OcmO8TZU0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
He stepped on the line before jumping off, it would be out of bound anyway if ref called it correctly.
Not really. The ball is technically still in play but its also out of play. Its like in baseball, if the ball is hit over the fence and a player reaches over the fence to catch the ball and a fan blocks it, home run. But if the ball is still on the field of play and a fan reaches over the wall to catch the ball, good bye fan.
There's no point in arguing over something that never happened, and why are you going to kick a courtside fan out of the arena for something which wouldn't matter anyway even if he didn't interfere with the ball. Minority report? Lol
He ran out of bound. But he was inbound when he jumped. That wouldn't have been an out of bound call.
Com'on guys we all know the NBA loves big market teams like L.A., NYC, Boston. These teams can pretty much get a pass on alot of "shady" things, do we even need to mention how Gasol got L.A. P.S. On a side note (and completely unrelated) the NBA must have hated thoses years San Antoinio and Detroit where making it to the Finals.
They do hate it... though I still don't see why they seem to hate Houston? We're a huge city.. I guess it wants only NY, Chicago and NY... too bad those teams mostly stink.
That was Adam Levine from Maroon 5 sitting next to the guy who punched the ball. And yeah, he wouldn't have been able to save it anyway.
I wonder what they would do if a fan blocked a potential last second game winning 3 pointer. It could happen if a court side fan was crazy enough.
the fan didn't do anything wrong. Since when can fans not touch an out of bound ball. It was clearly already in the stands. What gives a player the right to crash into fans just to grab an out of bound ball? Seriously, who cares?
