Steve Francis and Cat Mobley had a great Game and the Rox won against Memphis. A question remains...DOES STEVE FRANCIS WANT TO LEAD THIS TEAM AS THE STARTING POINT GUARD OR IS HE GOING TO GLORY ON HIS SCORING JUST LIKE ITS ALWAYS BEEN?? If this is the case then we need a point guard!! The only Point Guard playing for the Rox in this game was Tito Maddox. Someone has got to pass the ball if our players are ever going to develop CHEMISTRY.

    Dude -

He racked up 10 assists as well. That one fast break with the wrap around bounce pass to Mobley was sweet.

I was in NY and therefor couldn't watch the preseason game tonight. Steve had 10 assists? How many minutes did he play?

    MY GOD SHUT UP!!! (sorry)
what the hell do you want from steve...get off of him.

i'm tired of this you have to pass the ball 30 times and have atleast 17 assists or your selfish and not a leader. cmon.

steve is one of the most explosive scorers in the league and a bulk of the reason he has a max contract is because he can make shots some can't even attempt. he leads by involving people(this doesn't just mean assists), HUSTLING HIS ASS OFF and winning ball games. btw he dished out 10 assists today so how are you not satisfied.

Steve is looking for MVP and to be the Leader. I cannot think of a more appropriate way for him to start this year.

48.8% fg%, 21 assists and 13 turnovers on the road, I will take that. Remember the final score is not a reflection of the rockets' dominance in this game.

In case you didn't notice I said he and Mobley had a great game!! But 22 shots from a point guard on the first preseason game, he showed that he is not a leader but a great shooting guard! I enjoyed the game, yet I was thinking when we get our great Center is Steve Francis going to pass him the ball? Not just Francis, did you notice the refusal to pass to Nachbar, not even a try! This Team can be great with a great LEADER in STEVE FRANCIS, but he must get his team INVOLVED!

10 assists sounds like he did get the team involved, and that would be leadership. Add 30 points to that, and it sounds like a great game to me.

When Francis was out, the team struggled a bit.

I'm very impressed by the Rockets play. It's great to see that Morris has been working on his shot. He had an excellent game.

Mobley, Francis, and Thomas looked solid as usual.

Eddie Griffin's post up game looks pretty good. I'm glad he's been working on his post up game.

Hopefully, Nachbar will get more minutes in next Tuesday's game.

The guy had 10 freaking assist what do you want!? Refusal to pass to Nachbar? This is the FIRST preseason game, you think everybody is on the same page? That was Nachbar's first game as a Rocket, it's going to take a few games before Steve or anybody knows Nachbar's routine, when to get him the ball, whatever. They're just supposed to give a rookie SF the ball out of the blue? I understand Yao because he's a presence in the paint, but Nachbar barely played. This a new team, with a new system, you have to be patient. What more do you want from Steve as a leader? You want him to pass the ball, he gets 10 assist. People want him to score and carry the team he does that. You want him to get others involved he does. You want the Rockets to win he does that. Yet you're saying he isn't a leader, because he took 22 shots? Huh?

Yea he should have passed once to Boki, but I really don't think he was shutting him out...Honestly, I liked the first half Stevie than the 2nd half, but this is splitting hair criticism...If Steve plays every game like this, I'd take it.

Ah, I see I'm not the only one that saw this.

Does Nachbar have cooties or something?

Maybe it was just the old juvenile "rookie freezout"...

If Steve doesn't average 13 assists a game this year, get used to posts like this.

Steve was on a roll for the whole game, if he didn't shoot those shots, he'd be crazy. This was just one game, I think it might be a good idea to leave out the criticism for at least a few more games. At least then you will actually have something to base your "hating" on.

Why not? The Grizz didn't have a problem giving Gooden the rock. In a preseason game that doesn't even count, why not give the rook an opportunity?

I really don't think the Boki freezout is a big deal, but it does seem to offer further indication that Rudy is a player's coach, and doesn't keep a tight leash on his players as much as other coaches.

I'm not saying this is good or bad, just making an observation.

Would Rudy have liked to see Boki get at least a touch to see what he could do? Probably.

Would Rudy specifically order Francis to make sure Boki got a touch? Probably not.

    i'm still lost here.
rocks win, 30 points, 10 assists.
where is the problem in that line?

i realize you said he had a great game but you're still nit-picking on things that do not exist. if anything at all he was the leader of the team tonight. and freezing out nachbar? that's reading a bit much into things. he played very few minutes and there just weren't any plays called for him. other people were getting shots so he didn't get the touches. i'm thinking steve didn't say, "hmm theres a rook, he won't get the ball."

There's a difference between them giving the ball to Gooden and the Rockets giving Nachbar the ball. Gooden is a lottery pick, and a player they're expecting big things from. He was getting the ball a ton of time. Nachbar may contribute, but he isn't as big a key for the Rocks as Gooden is for Memphis, so I wouldn't expect him to get a bunch of touches his first game. Trust me, if this was Griffin first year instead of Nachbar the Rockets would be involving him the same way that Memphis was involving Gooden, because they know Gooden and Griffin would be keys to this team. I expect Rudy to get Nachbar involved later now that the team got a chance to play a game together.
