I have noticed something several times around here and I thought I should say something about it. Just because you are saying it about white people, it doesn't make racism less bad. Someone was offended when Rasheed Wallace was compared (using side by side pictures) to a chimp, but then posted a link to bushorchimp.com. I know that white people have not suffered the same effects of racism as other minorities, but you certainly are not helping the situation when you are hold different standards for acceptable behavior between whites and blacks. Anyway, a good rule of thumb to keep in mind is, if you are going to say something about a white person/white people, substitue a minority for them and see if you would think it is offensive, if it is, then don't post it about white people either. The only way for us to get rid of racism is for everyone to refrain from practising it. Thank you.
I was the one that posted the Wallace/chimp picture, replyingto a post that said "if yao ming is an elephant than what is wallace?" i found a pic of a screaming Wallace and a chimp that had the same facial expression. PC crap is starting to piss me off. And yes, I did respond to the post in that thread. I'm glad you mentioned it b/c I didn't even know that the fool was "offended." Morons.

I don't particularly like the statement that was made in said thread either...but it's probably because I'm blind to racism. I've ignored the crap growing up in the places I grew up in as a white person that was a minority. I did the same thing in jail. What worked for me when it came to dealing with racism either way was issuing respect bountifully and demanding a comparable amount of respect back. But if no disrespect was intended, as was evident in drapg's post; then why the hell would I want to create some in my mind? Racism is r****ded, and I think most people that aren't r****ded themselves can see this - so I usually give the benefit of the doubt and hope others will do me the same favor.
Smeg, I think both of those are okay. I think Nomar condensed my whole point pretty well. I am only against a double standard. If it is okay to compare a white guy to a chimp, then a black guy should be fair game too. If it is okay to compare a man to a horse, then a woman is fair game too. RM95, I think it is the exact opposite of PC run amok. I don't have problems with race being used in humor, only when people say they are offended by it and then turn around and do the same thing.
Well apparently I hit a nerve with whoever took offense to my post, because they have welcomed me to their hometown for a good old fashioned beating whenever I feel the need. Geez threats of violence. Gotta love an open fourm, eh?
