The final game of Asian Championships is scheduled at 10/01/2003 19:30pm at Harbin, China.(NOT 10/03 as reportedly earlier) This is the schedule: http://www.asia-basket.com/events/ac/ac03.asp This is a message from Yao Ming: (from yaoming.net) "As I'm sure many of you have heard, it's been reported that I have high blood pressure. Well, I wanted to reassure all of you that my health condition has been greatly exaggerated in the news and rumors that I suffer from hypertension are false. I have been traveling with the Chinese National Team nonstop for 3 weeks, playing every other day in a different city throughout China and Hong Kong. I have been exhausted because of the grueling playing schedule and the poor security on and off the court. But now that I am back in Beijing and have had some time to rest, I feel back to normal. " Yao just celebrated his birthday with Chinese fans.(look at the background of this photo. He can fly!)
Chinese NT to train at Harbin - Sep. 8, 2003 - by Cara Yip(asia-basket.com) In order to adapt to the cool weather and environment of Harbin, where the Asian Championship will take place, the Chinese National Team reportedly will arrive at Harbin as early as this Tuesday. The NT will still hold the training and general living closed-door. According to the Head Coach Jiang Xin-quan, the NT will first concentrate preparing for the group matches. As the 3 rivals on the group, Syria, Iran and Chinese Taipei are power-type teams, more strength training will be carried out. Intensive training of man-to-man full court press and the way to counter are also carrried out, no doubt to prepare for the anticipated matchup with South Korea.
At first glance, I thought you said "thanks for passing wind". Sorry, that was stupid. Anyway, does this mean that he'll make the start of training camp?
Hey guys/gals, it's not what you think...The guards were holding hands to form a barricade around Yao, in an attempt to keep out throngs of reporters and rabid fans. These reporters were especially relentless, totally ignoring Yao's repeated requests for a break and chased after him, cornering him at one point. Yao threatened to go to his car if they didn't back off, but nobody listened, and the cameras kept flashing away. He finally broke away, taking refuge in a room. At that point, head of security demanded the security guards prevent any reporters from coming in and to block out an exit for him when he's ready to leave.
It is very fun to read some of the stuff on ABC site. During the 2001 game, China-Lebenon match saw a 10-minute bench-clearing fight in which scissors were used . It was said 5 lebononese players were taken to hospital . I wonder what Yao's contribuation is
Looks like the only thing they're blocking out it that giant poster (or is it a wall?). Could be blocking in those cute little things in yellow mini skirts!
Sometimes we see the blockers hold their hands to protect the kickoff returner during a kickoff return in football match. The guards are holding their hands to protect Yao.
