Okay, all these trades do one thing: get rid of Cuttino Mobley, who takes bad shots and is paid a lot of money to do so, and replaces him with a true PG who is paid significantly less, runs well, and is young. This would allow us to move Steve Francis to the 2 guard, unleashing his amazing scoring ability, and not restricting him to have to 'give it up' to his teammates.... So here we go, trade number one: Trade #1 Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg) Houston receives: PG Carlos Arroyo (12.2 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 7.3 apg) Utah trades: PG Carlos Arroyo (12.2 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 7.3 apg) Utah receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg) -OUTLOOK: Gets us a young point guard who is playing superbly in a team that runs well. Good fit and has just recently signed a contract. Plus, he costs 1/8th of Mobley's contract, letting us explore the FA market for a PF. Here's a BIG plus: Arroyo is locked up for 5 years, as opposed to Mobley's 2. This trade only works because of Utah's low payroll, and saves the Rockets a TON of money, while getting them what they need. Trade #2 Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg) Houston receives: PG Eric Snow (9.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 7.0 apg) Houston receives: PF Marc Jackson (6.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.6 apg) Philadelphia trades: PG Eric Snow (9.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 7.0 apg) Philadelphia trades: PF Marc Jackson (6.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.6 apg) Philadelphia receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4rpg,2.3apg) -OUTLOOK: Houston gets the big body inside we need, plus an excellent point guard, who is very unselfish with the ball. In Houston, he will have more passing options, and with Marc Jackson coming off of the bench to back up Cato/Taylor, Houston can maintain inside dominance. Remeber, we tried to get Jackson from GS a few years ago too. Marc Jackson has to be included in this trade for salary cap reasons, because Mobley makes considerably more than Snow. Both Snow and Jackson are locked up for at least 3 years. Trade #3 Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg) Houston receives: Future 1st Round Draft Pick Houston receives: PG Charlie Ward (9.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 8.3 apg) New York trades: PG Charlie Ward (9.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 8.3 apg) New York trades: Future 1st Round Draft Pick New York receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.7 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.3 apg) -OUTLOOK: Okay, so New York would be giving us a top notch PG and a first rounder. This trade I think is the biggest longshot and also the best possible trade for the Houston Rockets. The only problem with this trade would be that Charlie Ward is on the last year of his contract (this would also be the reason that NY would consider trading him). The salaries of Ward and Mobley are almost the same, so the Rockets aren't profiting, other than the First Rounder, which could then be traded for help down low. We make up the loss of Mobley's 3pt shot when Eric Piatkowski comes back. This is the best trade for the good guys in my opinion. In Conclusion I just want to hear your thoughts on this, and let me know if you agree with any of these trades, or if you don't, what others you have in mind. Oh, by the way, all of these check out with Real General Manager, so no worries as to salary cap issues.
You must really hate Mobley.JJ I don't think Utah would trade Carlos Arroyo away the way he is playing.
wth? quit with these trade threads! 1. cat is a good player who can shoot 2. his salary is low for what he's able to do we won; be happy
I don't hate Cuttino Mobley, but I think letting him go would let the Rockets free up a lot of salary (see above) and also let Francis play to his offensive potential. He needs to play SG for the same reason that T-Mac, Kobe, and AI don't play point - they score better at 2-guard.
No, don't trade Cat. He is the best PG we have been looking for a long time. Look at what he did tonight, in particular in the fourth quarter. This man has an awesome court vision.
Trade threads are so dumb especially when they involve our top players like Francis, Cat, Yao....STOP ALREADY The only players I want traded are Moochie Norris and John Amaechi aka ManBoobs... Amaechi is a waste of bench space and Moochie only hurts the Rockets everytime he gets into the game..
I bet Utah would do trade 1 but it doesn't help us. Arroyo is an unproven commodity. Only an awesome PG would take us to the next level. Wow trade two would definitely help us but why would Philly do it? The have Iverson and Big Dog, there's enough scorers, without snow that team would really suck. Okay I like Charlie Ward, but you can't trade a good player for an average player. The number 1 pick might be enticing though, the way the Knicks are playing, that could be a top 5.
One of the problems with these trade threads is that the person coming up with these trades never takes into account how the trade helps the other team. For instance, WTF is Philidelphia gonna do with Mobley when they have Iverson!!! What does New York do with Mobley when they have Houston at SG. Finally, why trade a proven starter like Mobley for a rookie who has yet to prove anything? Can we wait and see what this kid can do for like, at least a half of a season? In conclusion, all these trades suck major ass.
I would do either trade, and I agree Mobley is a good player but we need a true point guard. Steve will become a real super start at the 2. We don't need a super start at the point. all we need is somebody looking to pass first.
man after tonights game. I would consider trading mobley for Eric Snow. The rockets won,but their performance was stale. They need alot more work in order to reach the playoffs this season.
I honestly don't get how trading Mobley would free up salary. He makes beans for his production. He had 2 off nights after 3 good ones(one..he took over and dominated). ugggggghhhhhhh. I happen to like him.
lol I really don't have anything new to say about all these trade threads, but i had to say that i love your conclusion.
First off, let me say I'm impressed with Mobley's 8 assists and 0 TO's game. Suddenly I'm thinking, maybe he's getting it? But let's put that aside. How owuld you guys feel about trading Mobley and Griffin for Harpring and Raul Lopez? Maybe just Mobley for Harpring? Harpring is one of those players that feed off star players (Iverson, Malone, Stockton). His numbers were tremendous last year, and it was quite obvious that he was feeding off Malone and Stockton. That's exactly what we need. Mobley is the type of player that attracts attention (when given the green light), and frees up other players, and can carry a team on many nights. We need Harpring. The Jazz need Mobley. Harpring isn ot working out at the 4, and they have Kirilenko at the 3 - he's not going anywhere. They have Deshawn Stevenson starting at SG, but he's not producing great numbers really. Arroyo is doing great though. Kirilenko is als odoing well, and their C rotation is solid. Something like Mobley and Griffin for Harpring and Raul Lopez may be a good trade for both teams, especially if Griffin comes back this season. Yao Cato/MoT Harpring JJ/Pike Francis/Lopez/Moochie Ostertag/Borchardt/Clark Griffin/Clark/Collins Kirilenko/whoever they have right now (Pavlovic?) Mobley/Stevenson Arroyo/Stevenson/Williams Thoughts?
trade for a role player... Mobley, Francis, and Ming are the core. Many think that Mobes should go if any but I think that he is just as important as the other two. This being said we need a trade (if any) for a role player. I believe that we should get rid of the cancers on our team and used them to accuire some good role player. here is my proposal: Maurice Taylor/ Eddie Griffin and future considerations for Jamaal tinsley/ Austin Croshere what do you guys think???
Swap with the Pacers Here is the role players needed: Houston trades: SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 15.1 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (9.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 23.5 minutes) Houston receives: PG Jamaal Tinsley (3.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.5 apg in 17.5 minutes) PF Austin Croshere (0.9 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: -9.1 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and +1.2 apg. Indiana trades: PG Jamaal Tinsley (3.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.5 apg in 17.5 minutes) PF Austin Croshere (0.9 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.9 minutes) Indiana receives: SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 7 games) PF Maurice Taylor (9.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 4 games) Change in team outlook: +9.1 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and -1.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Indiana being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Indiana had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ming/Cato Taylor/Croshere/Braggs JJ/Padgett/A.griff Mobley/Pike Francis/Tinsley I think the pacers would jump at this oppurtunity to add Nachbar and Taylor.
Larry and Rick both loves Croshere, there is no way they're trading him. Besides, this trade is pointless. We give up Taylor for Tinsley? wtf?
Harpring is no good, his stats are deceiving, some games he can totally disappear. Plus his is NOT a better passer than Cat, he's one of those 1 assist per 30 minutes players. Doesn't facilitate the offense. he's like a Szerbiak. that said though... really high percentage shooter.
