I wasn't sure if this thread should go in TAD or not, but it is about the Texans, kind of, sort of. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-power-rankings.htm http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings http://fanrankings.nfl.com/results/experts http://www.sbnation.com/2010/9/15/1690205/nfl-power-rankings-week-1-saints-raiders http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/09/14/week-two-power-rankings-2 http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking/overall-power-ranking-by-team
Although it is only the first game, it feels so damn good to finally get the recognition we deserve! Keep it up Texans!!!
http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings Junk like this is why I hate "power rankings". How can you have the Colts ranked above Texans when they squared off against each other in the first game and the Texans dominated them? It's just pure conjecture based on preconceived notions, narrative, and mythos.
Colts are perennial super bowl contenders. Its going to take more than one game for us to be considered better than the Colts.
until the Texans can consistently win and have winning seasons over a long period of time, the Colts will always be ahead of the Texans. It was only one game and it means just that - one game. And as long as Peyton Manning is the qb, the Texans will have a hard time passing up Indy.
But that's just it: they did pass up Indy. Head-to-head. In a game. On Sunday. No conjecture, no speculation, no guessing games. Until their record is better, or they show it on the field, there's no factual basis for "ranking" the Colts ahead of the Texans this season. I realize that "power rankings" are just opinion based on speculation: I just hate that so many people put so much emphasis on them, and that it does, in effect, drive the media narrative.
And the Cowboys are right behind....they had a horrible preseason followed by a turd of a game in Washington...if this is a true power ranking, they should be near the bottom right now.
That's not what a Power Ranking is though....it's more a snapshot of a team at a certain point in time. If the Saint were to lose two in a row during the season, no way they should be in the top ten for that week just because they are the Super Bowl Champions. The Colts shouldn't be ahead of the Texans because of who they are and what they've done to the Texans in the past. In week 1, the Texans handily beat them.
Just taking my quarterly opportunity to point out that the college football polls are pretty much the same thing, except that those determine our national championship. That it all.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings?year=2010&week=3 #3 this week.. not bad! Odds have Texas favored by 3 to win - kinda surprised that hasn't changed since news of the Brown suspension.
It wouldn't surprise me. Being 3-0 having beaten the Colts, Skins, and Girls would be damn impressive and could bump them up.
Colts just lost their starting strong safety. Their defense is even weaker now. The Texans have their work cut out for them, but their chances of winning the division are as good as they've ever been.
