I've got to file an incomplete. There are still too many questions over Ming (health amongst them. A lot of big, big men have knee or ankle trouble). If he becomes what he can be, then he gets my vote. But SF is pretty good!

Always select the Center. An all-star guard is much easier to find than an all-star center. Plus, Ming already knows how to spell TEAM without the I.

I agree with you but SF's career longevity is a big question mark since he relies so little on basketball IQ and so much on pure athleticism. A joy to watch when it works but not for the long term. Also he's relatively short and he won't be able to compensate later on in his career as he does now with quickness.

OK, early returns show a landslide for Ming. Who can we trade SF for now? :)

Maybe we should start a trade Francis for Andre Miller thread? ;)

Keep them both for the rest of their respective NBA careers. The KEY is to develop "role players" around them like every championship team from the past has done... The rest is gravy!!!

Jason Kidds. The current Rockets team is very much like the Nets team, young and talented, but has no clue how to play as a team. Just look at what happened after Jason Kidds came on board.

I selected the wrong one. I thought it said which one would u get rid of because of the title. I meant SF has to go.
Francis relys on his athleticism and not Basketball skills (mental). Yao has shown he is a team player, and can get it done when it is up to him.

I feel really not good about what this thread may bring to Houston's locker room. I would lock this thread if I could.

I find this thread completely inane. Possible? Sure...what isn't. Probable? No way.

Francis and Ming get along and the Rockets hold both their Bird's Rights, and in fact signed Francis to a monster contract extension. Why would the Rockets have to choose between them? Last year it was "Mobley vs Francis", now for some reason it's "Ming vs Francis". My answer? I would keep all of them.

This is a really dumb poll. I am protesting this poll by not voting. Would someone please tell me what is the purpose of this poll. Where is the substance?

Just like Kobe, once Steve learns how much easier the game is with a big man, he'll be ok. I wouldn't want to trade either though, but i just don't see Francis being a good "old" player like Payton or Stockton. I think once he hits 30 and some of his explosion leaves, his game will disappear quick, like Tim Hardaway.

Not a good thread. We should solve the problem, but not by trading your best players.

    Pointless- this thread...

We have expended huge long term resources on Francis, and have incredible luck in getting a once in a lifetime big man with a unique combination of brains for basketball, maturity-i.e. team 1st mentality, and foremost - an intuitive feel for the game.

This kind of thinking to throw away valuable resources on a whim reminds me of some really bad construction projects. The kind when you have momentum and the tough part is behind you -when you can make real progress and Money- the powers that be change direction or abandon the effort to expirement with another strategy. This is expensive, a waste of effort, and a morale killer.

I have begged owners and project managers not to do stupid things like this. The ones that did not listen always failed, were fired, and are no longer in the construction business.

I would blow up this thread if I could because nothing good will come of it. I hope no Rocket reads this.

It's not like they don't know it already.

Francis would be the first to admit that Yao is favored more than him.

I think this is a good motivation factor for Francis to prove the "bashers" wrong.

All you have to do is check the attendence records when it was the "Francis and Mobley Show."
