Now, I know this argument has been beaten to death. We've heard from the media, fans and journalists. However, not a lot has been said about those who actually have coached Artest and his impact on the court, not off it.

I was just reading Carlisle's 1st interview as a Dallas head coach and came across this quote:

On whether he'd coach Ron Artest again

"This guy is one of the real difference-makers that we have in this league. He's had one all-star year, that's when he played for me. I've had a chance to reconnect with Ronnie over the last couple of years. I love him and I love his family, so yeah. This guy was one of the most physical, intimidating players that I've ever seen at the small forward position. He'd be a player that any team would want to have."

Now, I've been on the fence on Artest but I think this comment from an actual coach who coached him leans my opinion towards getting him if we can.

    What do you guys think?

i think we're not gonna get him, so it doesnt matter. The guy is unreliable anyways. I wouldnt be surprised if he left for a month to work on his record company.

edit: but i hope dallas doesnt get him.

Well if the Mavs were interested, they have more pieces to get him than we do.

No one questions his talent. Its his sanity or lack of it that everyone is apprehensive about, even when ON the court.

I don't think Artest shares the same love to Carlisle. He basically wanted out of the Pacers because he didn't like how Carlisle micromanaged the offense.

I wonder how he'll like being on a team when he's not the 1rst or 2nd option on offense, cause he likes the ball in his hands alot these days.

MLE isn't going to be enough to get him, maybe a sign and trade of 2 big contracts like Battier and BJax, cause he wants that type of combined money. At least 10 mill. Just thinking aloud.

D'Antoni said good things about Marbury. Who believes coachspeak?

If the Rox actually want Artest and the Kings actually want Brooks a deal can be pieced together.

Isiah Thomas says good things about Curry. That doesn't mean the Rockets should go after him.

Unreliable in the playoffs and in the clutch. His discipline breaks down not only with his outbursts but also when the team is in a rut.

If you don't consider him a cancer, then at the very least, he's a unpredictable narcotic.

Who knows, but if they do, I'm sure Cuban will get two excellent rotation players and a lottery pick for him. It seemed like every year he pillaged someone.

I thought it was tampering if he talked about other players not on his roster like that.

Do NOT believe what Carlisle is saying about Artest. Coachspeak Rule 197: Don't speak ill of a former player.

After Josh Howard, what would those pieces be again? They shot their wad in the Jason Kidd deal. I would love for them to get rid of Howard to get a basket case like Artest.

If you ask the people in Dallas, Josh Howard is a bit of a basket case. If you listen to the radio stations in Dallas they believe that Josh Howard has lost a lot of trade value due to his performance this year which was not good and based on some of his off the court issues.

    Addmiting that he smokes pot
Throwing parties after play off losses
Not doing the things that his coach asked

Right now there are red flags associated with Howard.

I know Artest has done some bone headed things in the past but when was the last time he did anything to deserve negative press?

Another thing Bonzi Wells whom everyone here seemed to love was is and always be a bigger basket case than Artrest. Not to mention not half the player.

nah, Artest is good if nothing else for entertainment value. He is a game changer and if he does something bone headed it'll sell more tickets. I liked when he chest thumped and fouled his way to the boos of the crowd to his eventual ejection against Utah.
