he's looking to be a SG (actually swingman) in the league.
incidently... aren't the rockets looking for one too?

the problem is nobody has any clue how good his competition was, and that means a big mystery for his (reportedly superlative) talent level too...

we'll see how he does at the kings' training camp i guess.

being a taiwanese, i'm rooting for him to end up in houston! then the rockets will definitely be asia's team!

actually if only taiwan and china can play together, maybe his addition might have improved on the chinese nt's guard situation?

    :D

    that's life i guess.

I am not from Asia but cwww never said Taiwan was not a country. He just said that he was a Chinese and was from Taiwan. That is a correct statement.

If you send any mail to Taiwan, you include "Republic of China" in the address. And I believe the U.S. recognizes Taiwan as a part of China. Not to mention that most Taiwanese people are of Chinese descent. Finally, this player is in the Chinese baskeball league, so saying he's a Chinese player is like saying Steve Francis is an NBA player.

WRONG... if so, then British descendents in the USA/Canada should be called British instead of Americans/Canadians?????

ppl from Taiwan are just simply called Taiwanese...

 That's not right! The name of Mainland China is People's Republic of China, P.R.O.C, and The name of Taiwan is Republic of China, R.O.C, that's totally different. I know you are confused, but that's a long story. Sorry to talk about this here, I just want you know Taiwan is not a part of China.

I know some people in shanghai prefer to identify Yao Ming as a great Shanghainese player instead of simply just as a Chinese player to show their uniqueness. That's alright.

Yao Ming == shanghainese player :)

no matter how much u want to argue whether taiwan is a country or not, Chen Hsin An plays for the CHINESE TAIPEI team in the international games, and there is only CHINESE TAIPEI exist in the international sporting events including olympic games nowadays.

    that is a fact.

Come on, let's not mix politics with sports.

Yao Ming == a shanghainese player
Chen hsinan == a taiwanese player

whatever... most people simply don't care.

For people from a regime with "China" in its official title, being called Chinese (from Taiwan) isn't an insult, nor a strech.

Who cares anyway, most Americans call Taiwanese Chinese anyway. And last time I checked, "one China" policy is still the official policy of US government. Enjoy the board and leave your BS behind.

PS: If you have interest in China/Taiwan issues, the link below has some discussion.

Taiwan is a province of China. Taiwanese call Taiwan a country, it's just their wishful thinking.

No I'm not, I'm from Singapore.

FYI Taiwan is NOT internationally recognized as a "country" (at least not yet). IF Taiwan is a country, then Hong Kong must be a country too.

Mini, I apologise if you don't feel comfortable with that. But I still won't call Chen a Taiwanese, he's a Chinese, from Taiwan. Period.

OK let's put those politics aside and talk about basketball...

    I'm looking for one too.:)
