Christie is apparently running the offense in Sacremento. He took over the offense after they fired the coach last year and traded for Sabonis, and has kept running it after the Brown hire. Christie of course was a starter on those great Rick Adelman Kings teams that revolved around the big man passing of Webber and Divac, with great shooters like Stojakovic and Turkoglu on the perimeter. He apparently took over the offense after they fired the coach last year and traded for Sabonis, and has kept running it after the Brown hire. He deserves huge props imo for getting Fox to buy into that style of play, and Fox is thriving in it, having a huge bounce back season after a very disappointing year last season, and is now being talked about as an all star again, and on a team who is looking like a home court advantage team in the playoffs. Plus he spent his career as a hard nosed defensive role player. I'd have more experienced coaches like Nurse and Atkinson ahead of him, but he should at least be considered for the job I think. Not only does he have experience running an offense like that, but he has experience getting a formerly ball dominant guard in Fox to buy into playing a different way, both for the good of his team and for himself. We need someone to be able to deliver that message to Green and KPJ.
What does his wife have to say about it? lol. And how do we break this to Abdelfattah who was last year's golden child for CF?
Maybe he can bring her in to help keep these guards in line.... maybe that's how he got through to Fox! Now THAT'S my style of "organic learning"
Yeah, my next thread was going to be a pile of bird feces I scraped off of an abandoned car I was donating for head coach.
So far we have had an amazing experience when bringing in an assistant coach who runs a league best offense....
If the Rockets get Wemby this off-season they'll get their pick of any Coach in the league they want. Hell, I'm sure they are getting calls already from prospective coaches saying If that was my team I'd be running XYZ.
Christi is a fixture there. It's not normal for assistant coaches to remain after a HC change. He's like their John Lucas, where he was kept from Walton's era to Mike Brown's. He's not a head coach pick, but Sacramento org's... outlasted lasted their GM turnover. It's likely if Brown moves on, Doug will be a strong candidate as thier next guy. Christi is groomed. I lean 'no', just because there's lot of local Sacramento roots/appreciation there. He'd be more happy there than anywhere else.
Silas isn't going anywhere. And also, it's not going to matter who is coach with a cheapskate owner, his dimwitted son and their lawyer playing GM.
Bad idea, I listened to this guy on his old radio show for years and this guy, although a great guy to talk to but he has no idea how a modern offense should be run.
I think this time we need to hire an established coach. Kings did that with Mike Brown.Bucks did it with Bud. Nothing wrong with getting someone who has done it before for 3-4 seasons until they eventually wear out their welcome. We tried the new coach thing and they're so new in the game that they're easily manipulated by the front office.
My top picks would be one of the following: - Sam Cassell - Mario Elie - Shane Battier - Calvin Murphy (Why the hell not? At least we would know he would be TRYING to win and wouldn't gloss anything over.)
