Meaningless Statistics In case you haven't noticed, our record over the last 29 games has been 17-12, [this originally read 17-29, but certain people complained, so it has now been fixed... but in no way does this mean I am attempting to cover up my error...thank you, have a great day...] which translates into a 48 win season if you extend that winning percentage to an 82 game season. Not too bad. If you recall, the first ray of light came after a 6-game losing streak, which came to an end after a routing of the Mavericks in December. Since then, we have lost only 12 games... Of those 12 losses, half were decided by 6 points or less. (Jazz 2, Kings 3, Nuggets 5, Sixers 1, Spurs 2, Blazers 6) And of those 6 teams, Denver is the only one that we might truly feel bad about losing to. Of the other 6 losses, only the loss to the Clippers, and perhaps the Magic, could be considered a major loss. The other 4 came from the T'Wolves, Jazz, Lakers, and Heat. Not exactly puppy chow teams... The Point My point? The Rockets have finally reached the point of consistancy that they have lacked for the better part of the last 2 seasons. They beat the teams they're supposed to beat. They play up to their ability, and I attribute this largely to Rudy's coaching, the maturation of Francis, and more recently, the resurgence of Hakeem. Is this team ready to make some noise in the play-offs? Honestly, probably not. But we have the ability to get there. And getting there is the first step to breaking into the top tier of the league. Maybe we're still a couple players away, but as far as I'm concerned, this season has been and will be a smashing success. ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain - [This message has been edited by DarkHorse (edited February 27, 2001).] [This message has been edited by DarkHorse (edited February 28, 2001).]

Maybe it's because you screwed up our record over the last 29. ------------------ The season's halfway over...and I still need that keg of Pepto-Bismol.
I did read it last night if that makes you feel better! Great post, but I'm not real big on "I agree" responses. Couldn't have said it better myself, so I didn't try, if you know what I mean. As for the rest of the BBS, it is much more fun for seemingly way too many posters to worry about dreamcasting about Webber and/or bash players than to think about all the positives that we have accomplished. Excellent post. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt. Okay... 17-12... It depends on how you look at it actually... I meant we have won 17 out of 29 games, thanks.... I'm a Statistics major... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
