Move Bagwell to 3rd, Blum to left, Berkman to 1st, Hunter in center, and DWard takes Shane's spot in the rotation.

Maybe now Drayton will realize that he needs to open up his wallet a little more, instead of being a tight ass.......

I love Biggio and Bagwell, but IMO they are done.

man, its sounds like a trade is looming, but were do we start?
We seem to have problems with hitting and pitching.

That means a Trade or Call up, right?

That could mean a change in leadership, aka, bye bye Jimmy.

No way Jimy gets fired after 50 games. He'll get at least 2 years, in my opinion. And it really doesn't solve any of our problems. Jimy is not the reason Ward and Bagwell quit hitting for power and average. He can't make Biggio learn to hit again and get some mobility back. :(

Oh, I don't think it will happen, nor do i think it should...I was just giving an example of a non-roster move.

Damn, someone forgot to tell Bagwell that he was done. Bagwell has an .882 OPS. He hasn't been spectacular, but considering his shoulder problems, I think he has been pretty good.

Who are the untouchables on this team right now? I'm thinkin Oswalt, Berkman, Hernandez, Miller, and maybe Dotel. I wouldn't mind seeing them trade Wagner for 2/3 nice prospects or even trading Bagwell. Biggio looks pretty untradeable right now. I don't think this team is one player away so any bold and challenging moves better be to acquire young talent and not sell the farm again.

I'd guess you're right. Bagwell, Biggio, and Wagner are also untouchables, I think, for non-baseball reasons. For casual fans, they are the franchise, and I don't think Drayton will mess with that.

Ausmus might also have gotten a no-trade clause in there somewhere when he got traded back to the Astros. I know he wanted it because he didn't want to be shipped out again.

Did they really say that at astrosconnection? I thought those guys knew baseball, i'm dissapointed. With his shoulder, Bagwell couldn't get the ball past the pitcher's mound. Berkman, regardless of all the hilarious mistakes in the outfield he made in college, has been the best defensive outfielder we have lately. Doesn't he have 2 web gems by the way? Bagwell has been off lately, but his pre allstar game numbers are always like this. He'll hit about .340 with 25-30 HR and 50 RBI after the break. Biggio is my favorite player of all time, so I'll give him leway, but It's time to put Chris Burke on the fastrack. Milicki needs to be cut, Shane needs to go on the DL and we need to call up Saarloos and Rosario. Jason Lane didn't get a fair shake and he needs to be brought back before he becomes a minor league legend like Crash Davis.

First of all, I am pretty sure Buck was joking. No one wants to see Daryle Ward pitching.

I agree with you on Jeff Bagwell. I think he will heat up at some point and start hitting closer to his career averages. In regards to Chris Burke, he is hitting with a .270 avg, .351 OBP and a .353 SLG% for a .704 OPS at the Astros AA Round Rock affiliate. Those numbers are hardly indicative of a player that needs "fast tracking." We have some good young pitching, but none of it is for certain yet, so cutting Mlicki would be a bit of a stretch, especially considering he is making 7 mil a season and has been pretty effective as a starter this season until he got hurt. Sarloos has been great, but as Buck pointed out in the other thread, the guy has only started for a small portion of his baseball career. He was a closer mostly in college, and relieved quite a bit. Rosario has been nice as well, but both of these guys have yet to pitch a single game at AAA, so I think it is way too early to call them up.

I would love to see Jason Lane given another shot, however, as I think he is ready now to come up and contribute.

The bold move could entail bringing up a pitcher from the minors. I wouldn't get my hopes up guys.

I posted this in the hangout thread about the 'Stros, but felt it deserved a re-posting in this related thread:

The only trade the Astros are going to make is with the Tigers because of Tal Smith's brother/son......whatever.

IF we do trade it will be something like this:

    Brad Ausmus and Brian Hunter

    for

    Jose Lima and Chris Truby

Basically recycle former Astros with former Tigers over and over and over again......

Drew - Randy Smith got fired. No more 9 player Hou/Det trades, sadly.

Neither Saarloos or Rosario will be called up anytime soon. Jimy will not be fired. That much I'm pretty sure of. The only thing any of us know with certainty is that we don't know anything.

Yeah, I was obviously not serious in my earlier post...I did, however, hear some caller a few days ago on the 610 afternoon show suggest (for the 5000th time) that Bagwell move to 3rd.

The Bagwell to 3rd talk is absolutely ridiculous...he can hardly throw right now, and plays first base, so we should move him across the diamond to a position he hasn't played in a decade, from a position where he can be considered among the best defensively in the game. We should move Biggio back to catcher, and maybe Wagner should start again.

It's unlike Gerry to hint at a major deal.

What we will NOT do: take on major salary, or soon to be major salary (ie Rolen).

I think it may be time to play salary dump- Reynolds or Mlicki could be moved to a contender. I wouldn't be shocked to see Hidalgo moved for a young centerfielder with leadoff type skills (is that Hidalgo for Juan Pierre still on the table). I doubt Bags is traded, and I don't think there's a team in the league that would want Biggio's contract based on how he's playing right now.

We're gonna stir things up by bringing back Mitch Williams.
