    Thesis:

The '95 Rockets are one of the greatest playoff teams in NBA history.

    Support:

No team EVER won the title from a lower seed (sixth).

No team EVER beat teams with as many wins as the '95 Rockets:

    Utah- 60 wins
    Phoenix-59 wins
    San Antonio-62 wins!!!
    Orlando-57 wins

    combined 238 wins!!!

    Commentary:

The road to the finals was so difficult and defining that by the time the Rockets got there they were able to cut through a 57 win team like butter.... a 57 win team that beat Jordan's Bulls in the eastern finals. One could easily argue that no team in NBA history could have beaten the Rockets in the finals that year.

And in addition, one plus one equals two.

The 95 Rockets are also one of the only championship teams that never faced any serious competition. So there goes your point.

The Suns, Jazz, and Spurs were all perennial title contenders. The Magic ousted the Bulls and had a fantastic nucleus at the time.

    Explain.

Jazz are decent, Spurs were nothing pre TD (no DRob doesn't cut it), the Suns were never anything special (although a certain someone we don't like is quite good). If you are going to make that claim then you should modify your statement to the Suns, Jazz, and Spurs were all perennial title contenders during those years. We took advantage of MJ retiring for 2 seasons and made the most of it, so go Rox. But to claim we are one of the best playoff teams ever is a stretch by any imagination.

Well, lets see. They swept Orlando who was the only team to Beat a Bulls team w/ Jordon in the playoffs since 91..... They beat the MVP's team who had just won 62 games and considered one of the better teams of that era especialy w/ Rodman in there as well....They also beat Phoenix who had 59 freaking wins, w/ KJ on a death mission for K. Smith and Cassel..... And they beat arguably the best team Utah ever had, in 5, in Utah......Is that enough points for u?

To be honest w/ u, either one of San Antonio, Phoenix, Houston and Utah of 95 could have beaten the Kings, Mavs, Spurs, Nets, and Minnesota of today. I cant say the Lakers cause nobody's seen them play this year.

Let me correct you and say that Orlando was the only team to beat a Bulls team w/ a came-back-from-retirement out of shape Jordan... a team that had just won 62 games because the rest of the league were so damn pathetic... a Phoenix team which was not anywhere in sniffing distance to the top teams in history, which we beat... and a decent although not great Jazz team.

Those SA and Utah teams would have beaten the Kings (ESPN: and Webber is out with an injury for the 50 millionth time) and Mavs (no interior presence at all) and the Nets (I can't believe you even mentioned them). But there's no way they'd beat SA or Minnie of today.

We were a good playoff team, not great.

Along with all 6 Bulls teams, I guess. And the last 3 Laker teams.

The suggestion that SA was not a contender is not well founded, 62 wins don't just happen to you, teams didn't lose because David Robinson was a nice guy.

The Jazz were on the verge of breaking through with their finals appearences as well.

And the Suns had gone to the finals two seasons prior and still had the same team together.

As for the Jordan thing...no one beat the Bulls in the finals (6-0): Magic won no titles against Jordan, Sir Chuck won none, Stock/Malone=0. The onlt team one could resonable argue that beat the bulls was Detroit. The jordan retirement thing is just a bad arguement.

But it is nice to have some desenters (sp?)

    peace

Dude are u serious? That Spurs or the Rockets of 95 would beat the **** out of the Spurs of today. Dude, David avg. 28, 11, 3.2, and 3 that year, Dennis Rodman averaged 17 rebounds and Sean Elliot avergaed 18 ppg and Avery Johnson avg. over 8 assists a game that year

That team would have destroyed the Spurs of today. David, Rodman, Elliot, Del Negro, Avery Johnson vs Duncan, Parker, Bowan, Rose, and S. Jackson?? No contest. The 95 Spurs in 5.
And Jordan had 55 on his second game back....yeah, so out of shape...

The only reason some of todays teams especially the Mavs and Spurs look soo good is because the East is so damn pathetic, and its easy as hell to rack up 55 game seasons. OMG, the Rockets won 45 a couple of years ago while going undefeated in one of the divisions for the whole year ....

You are going to make a statement like that with no backup and call me a r****d. I knew this BBS was full of homers along with all the rest of them but I didn't know it was this bad. Justify how this team is one of the greatest playoff teams in NBA history or shut the hell up.

Btw, I suppose teams like Showtime Lakers, Celtics even the Pistons and the Bulls are not great playoff teams. Tell me how we compare with them.
