Real Rockets fans don't cheer for a team that tries to injury our best player with a scrub. A very serious injury in someone's EYE.

    http://www.nba.com/playerfile/hakeem_olajuwon/bio.html

    1990-91:
Were it not for a serious injury midway through the 1990-91 season, Olajuwon would likely have led the NBA in rebounding for a third straight year. He took an elbow in the eye from the Chicago Bulls' Bill Cartwright on January 3, suffering a blowout fracture of the bones that surround the eyeball. Olajuwon underwent surgery on January 14 and missed the Rockets' next 25 games, the longest idle stretch of his career. Although his average of 13.8 rebounds per game was better than any other player's, he failed to qualify for the leaderboard because he did not play in the required 70 games (only 56) or have the required 800 total rebounds (only 770). The seven-year veteran did qualify to rank among the blocked-shot leaders, finishing first in the league for a second straight year with 3.95 per game. He added 21.2 points per game, leading the Rockets in scoring and rebounding average for a fifth straight season. Olajuwon's eye injury forced a break in his string of six consecutive All-Star appearances. (He returned to the All-Star Game in 1992.) At season's end he was named to the All-NBA Third Team and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

i'd like to thank heypartner of reminding me of this.
this was a scary time, we could have lost Dream like we lost Rudy T.

Thank God it didn't happen. Maxwell never tried to injure MJ, he mainly played tough defense and said lots of curse words, but never hit MJ in the eye and fractured his face. Never.

    Could've been.

Seriously, give it a rest. You're embarassing yourself. This is quite possibly the dumbest thread in this BBS' history which is saying a lot.

So instead of pointlessly and continually harping on 90's Bulls vs. 90's Rockets with no real conclusion to the argument, why don't we turn our attention to today's Rockets who have a 15 game winning streak.

My knowledge of Rockets history before '95 or so is limited (I'm a young'n), so I'm curious, did Hakeem come back for the playoffs that year? Did the team even make the playoffs?

Please provide evidence that Bill Cartwright was trying to injure Hakeem on purpose.

    Thanks!

Ignore RM95, Tinman, we all know that accidents happen to other teams. Malicious intent happens to the Rockets all the time. You know, like Yao's stress fracture was actually caused by JVG last year during the playoffs.
 Too many minutes for Yao in game 7!

Tinman, I appreciate all you do for this board.seriously.
it's good to be reminded of an even greater time than what we are experiencing now.
I am not sure if I would put money on it,but I will say he did it on purpose.

    thanks ab,

i watched the Rockets game in freezing Denver with heypartner, almost slipping on ice to get there! so no lame excuse bull fans can claim that i'm not paying attention to the team. I also went to the Rockets game with the Rowdies in san antonio.

and contrary to the belief that i rehashed this Bulls/Rockets feud. I didn't. I didn't start this thread:
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=142301

I could go an Bulls fansite and asked "If Magic didn't get AIDs would the Bulls win?" But I don't. that's not classy for even a Laker fan.
Magic slept with 200 women, that's his choice he didn't want to retire.
