not sure if there is a thread elsewhere, didnt see one. 6 years later a lot of those responsible are still on the run and sadly still just as much of a threat today as they were 6 years ago. while there is still a lot of healing to do both physically and emotionally i will pray for all those affected by the tragic events of this day 6 years ago. the darkest day in the history of my generation, i will always remember the day when it happened and how i felt. where were you? RIP to all of the missed friends and family and heroes, we'll never forget
I was in school.. 10th grade I think, we noticed alot of students being called down to the office to go home. We didn't know what had happened because we were in the middle of class. Then we went to lunch and the school was a zoo. People everywhere, parents packing the main office. I still didn't know what happened but I knew it was bad. Then I saw my mom and we left. When I got home, I turned the tv on and witnessed some of the most heartbreaking images I had ever seen.
I was in school 8th or 9th grade, our teacher was like a famous building just blew up. I didn't really care at the time. But then I did my research later and now I do. I saw something on CNN saying when is remembering 9/11 every year too much?
I was actually sick that day and missed school to stay at my grandmother's house. I was in the 7th grade at the time. I was half-asleep when I heard a phone call and my grandmother answered it. She turned on the television set and saw a building on fire. We didn't think of it as a terrorist attack yet, but then the second plane crashed and we knew we were under attack. Then, we heard there were more plane hijackings and I was worried one might come close to Houston. Luckuily, they didn't but it was a day I will never forget. It is a tremendously sad day and I saw r.i.p. to all the victims and their families of this tragedy.
I got out of my morning class at 9:15, and ran into a friend that told me what happened. I didn't believe him at first, but I decided to skip my next class and found a TV on campus. Even as I was watching, the whole ordeal seem so surreal.
ignoring the political innuendo of the original post. i remember rolling out of bed late and i heard my gf at the time say "a plane hit the WTC"...i though how the hell does a plane accidently hit the WTC? I couldnt even image what was in store. sat there glued to the tv all day
sobering. 9th grade geometry, katy high school. our teacher heard it on the radio and let us watch the peter jennings coverage for the rest of class.
I was in the class (my freshman year at UH). Someone had told me that there was a plane accident that involved WTC. I didn't think anything of it after that. I didn't hear anything until I went home for lunch. I saw the traffic alerts that the airports were closed. I found out when I turned on tv when I got home. What a heartbreaking day. I visited the WTC site back in 2004 when I was in NYC. It was such a creepy feeling to be at the site where so many people died.
it doesn't seem that long ago. I remember that morning I was supposed to go work out with a buddy of mine, but I drank too much the night before and I didn't feel like it. He lived across the hall from me and was calling my cell so I turned it off, then he came and banged on my door for like 10 minutes finally I got up and said dude take the hint, I don't want to go to the gym. He said turn on the TV you idiot, we are being attacked. I turned on the TV and then like 3 minutes later the first tower fell.
I was in class and didn't hear about it until my second class at 9:30. My professor was an Army vet that taught at West Point in the summer and never showed any emotion. When he told us about it, he was visibly shaken and could barely talk.
I remember listening to the Edge morning show up here while I was working out that morning. Once I was finished I turned on the TV and was shocked.
I thought that, too. I was just arriving at the building where I worked and heard some people say that a plane flew into the world trade center. I remember thinking, "probably some nut in a cessna was doing doing some kind of aerial tour of downtown New York and got too close to the building. What an idiot." Of course, I soon realized just how wrong I was and how grand the scope truly was.
I had a job interview at 1 that day, so I slept in. My alarm woke me up to some lady saying "the whole building is just gone!" Another reporter said "you mean the side of the building collapsed?" and she said "no, the entire building is GONE!!!" I though there was a terrorist attack in some far off country, until I turned on the TV. I'm kind of glad I didn't see it live...

Let us never forget this tragic day in our history when so many of our neighbors, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, friends, school teachers, doctors, and all other types of Americans died. Didn't realize how many of you are so young. I heard it on Lance & John's show - they were on when my alarm clock went off around 8am. My company was doing website and some technical work for Mayor Brown's re-election campaign. I had to go into the office a little later in the morning. There were secret service and FBI people there talking to the Mayor about safeguards for the ship channel, water supply and other areas. It was freaky. I remember that we had gotten a relatively early cool front and that it was pleasant outside. When I drove around a bit that day, the sky was perfectly blue and I remember how eerie it was that there weren't any planes or helicopters in the air. It was strangely quiet.
I had a friend on the phone in Philly. Video footage and updates seemed to be reaching him a lot faster than in Houston. On the phone he said, "My God, the entire building just collapsed. It's completely destroyed." I didn't believe him. Then the video footage came on my screen. Wow. .... And we still haven't apprehended those who were ultimately responsible.
i was a freshman at UT...they had cancelled classes..went to the student union..everyone was crowded at the TVs...was shocked...came home...mom called me...and i found out my grandma had just passed (unrelated incident) ...just sucked that i had a double wammy that day
