PODCAST LINK You have to sit through a sports update and a few commercials before it starts. He touches on a variety of subjects.
Nothing really pressing, I am glad he is going to get some R and R tho. The man needs to be at 100% when he gets back. Have a good summer T-mac.
Nice little interview.. nothing too new. From what I can remember (I'm tired): - Tmac promoting his camp with an emphasize on mac being there the whole time. - Howard's locker leadership is gonna be missed - Happy MJ is here - Happy Pretty Ricky is here - He misses JVG - Wants a PF who can run the floor and REBOUND. Don't really need a PF who can necessarily score. Just a "dog" who can do the dirty work. - Says his Rafe's late turnover was key to them losing because of a momentum switch. WELL DESERVED for rafer. - Don't know how Rafer and MJ will coexist. I sense him rooting for MJ and snitching on Rafer for sucking.
I think those guys let him off pretty easy because they know he's been hounded by those kinds of questions since game 7 ended. Besides, I thought the whole purpose of this interview was to promote Tmac's camp, not to throw him some curve balls.
Hahah you're just evil. I wouldn't mind doing that to Rafer though. "yeah uhh rafer.. why do you suck? thank you"
He drives to the basket enough times to be effective. The real culprit was his jumpshot going MIA. T-Mac needs to develop that midrange jumper that Kobe has developed over the past two seasons. With his length/jumping ability, there is no excuse for him not to be 'Kobe-like' from that 18 ft-and-in range. If he focuses more on that and less on 20 ft-and-out shots, his shooting percentage will border on 50%. All T-Mac needs to do is improve his shot selection, but I don't want him to 'force' it inside alas D-Wade because he doesn't have that type of strength/explosiveness and ability to finish. I lost count of how many times he attacked the basket and missed the shot, his body just isn't strong enough to absorb the hit and still finish; he's not Lebron or Wade-like from a physical standpoint and that won't change. I can't ask the guy to do something that isn't his game, but I can ask him to improve on his existing game and utilize his strengths/advantages. All that being said, he's still a great player and one of the best in the league, we're lucky enough to have him. If the only guys worth mentioning in the same breath are Kobe, Lebron, and Wade then you're in pretty good company. I think fans here tend to forget that with all the criticism of his game not being 'perfect'.
Wow, I agree to an extent but you act like this is how McGrady has played his whole career which is not true. The reason he doesn't finish as strong now is because of his back. You neglected to mention that he used to be one of the best attackers in the game before he got hurt and always had the strength to finish even when contact is there. He still can do that but he is just a little more timid now I think. The main thing that was missing this year was his touch around the basket and from the outside. Did you guys know he didn't work on his game at all last offseason cause he was resting? I really hope he gets in game shape from the get go this year and works on his jumper and closer in shots. I also think with a better offense alone his numbers will improve as he will get more open looks and more easy baskets. Hopefully we won't be relying on a pull up 3 all the time and maybe Adelman will try to minimize those attempts. Unlike most of you though, I think that is what makes him so dangerous. The defender is always worried about Tmac pulling up for a 3 so they play him tight which is one of the reasons he can get around them so easily. He always has the defender guessing.
Based on Tmac's description of his ideal PF...it seems that Varejao is the real deal..watcha think? I'm ok with Varejao/Cook rotation if these deals happened..
exactly, sometimes when he drives and gets near the basket, he avoids the contact and that makes it harder for him to focus on finishing. on his J, he did shoot well at times. but he sucked at times. that's the inconsistency that comes from the lack of rhythm and practice due to no offseason last yr. if he practices it, he'll have a better rhythm. there's a reason when tmac sucks at shooting, his defender is right up in his face, unlike lebron. so u can't change tmac's game. that's why he's so dangerous.
I think your analysis here is pretty good. I hope he works on that jumper. If he can get a little bit more consistent with it, it'll work wonders for the rest of his game, including his driving opportunities.
did he really call out rafer and that TO?? that was a big momentum changer...but what about TMAC disappearing too and not driving .....he didn't say anything about Yao?
he didn't really diss rafer but we had all the momentum but that rafer's TO and then they hit a 3 gave the jazz confidence. it's just a play that changed the momentum. and what can he say about yao? can't diss his main guy.
yeah im fine with him baggin on rafer a little...he's already been beat up, and beat himself up, for not doing enough. Him and yao know what must be done, they both know they didnt play their best. they just gotta get the role players to fall in line and we'll be all right.
