CD was just interviewed and covered these topics: Happy w/ Luther Head. Has played more minutes to date than he expected all season. He's a gym rat. Rockets have not and will not contact Pacers. Don't want Artest for all the obvious reasons. Thinks Swift is progressing nicely. He's a guy that needs to be brought along but has so much potential. He likes how JVG is using him in the high post and then dribble penetration to the basket. Expects trades tomorrow but not as many. Due to the injury list changes vs. inactive list, teams carry a full 15 players now. Therefore 2 for 1 trades are unlikely now.
Obviously CD is just saying they haven't contacted the Pacers but he actually is.. They do that all the time, ooo i cant wait till tmrow... hope we get someone good, and don't give away stromile...
Am I suprised? Very. Do I understand? I do. That has to be a JVG and Tracy Mcgrady decision. These are our Rockets and I support what they are trying to do. They know better than us when it comes to these type of decisions. Now do I still want them to seek a trade somewhere down the line? Yeah. But it should not involve Swift and Head. At least that part of it is out of the way. It would have been tough to give those guys up, would have stung a bit. Maybe a PJ Brown and a Earl Watson and the return of Sura would be plenty enough for this team to go deep into the playoffs. Keepin' it simple like that will work better for us.
the yaomac combination is built to win a championship now. every year it seems like they still need another piece or rebuilding. tracy and yao are just getting older. it's funny how the rockets weren't worried about chuck hayes problems... houston could've been the place where artest finally matured and became a man.
Tomorrow is the absolute final day a trade can happen right? If so do you think the Rockets will make a move? Go Rockets!!!
No, the trade deadline is in February. Tomorrow is the FIRST day that players who signed this past off-season can be traded. Players such as Swift, DA, Raja Bell...guys that signed a new contract before this season.
2006 Key Dates From nba.com: Jan. 5 10-day contracts may now be signed Jan. 10 All player contracts are guaranteed for the remainder of the season Feb. 17-19 NBA All-Star 2006 (Toyota Center, Houston, TX) Feb. 23 Trading Deadline, 3 p.m. ET http://www.nba.com/schedules/key_dates.html
I had a crying baby in my hand so I couldn't elaborate. But CD made it VERY VERY clear he had no interest in Artest. He went through the whole laundry list of reasons discussed here 1000x. Unless they take Moochie Noris and Vin Baker , I positive we aren't getting Artest. When Charlie asked about a Peja-Artest swap, I thought I heard an interesting twang in CD's voice. I almost got the sense that CD was interested in Peja. I hope not because I don't like the idea of trading for Peja only to have him walk. He'd probably be a nice fit but too risky given his contract.
We could do a lot worse than Peja. It sure would be nice to have one of the best shooters in the NBA shooting wide open jumpers when TMac or Yao is double teamed. If he wasn't such a playoff choker, I'd be even more excited about the prospect.
