The Lebron commercial thread got me thinking about how sweet the 70's were. You young kids have no idea just how great those years really were. I submit this as proof: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FYE0jNkiRhA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FYE0jNkiRhA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
That's cool footage, thx. All lot of that is from the '80s though. Check out 2:40, for instance. That's Rosie Perez, from Do the Right Thing. She's so freaking hot.
Sorry, I was born in 1970. I saw the whole thing. Don't fall for the VH1 nostalgia trap. The 70's sucked only slightly less than the 80's and now do. The 90's actually kicked ass. From pop culture to what was going on in the world, the 70's were a brown and orange plaid nightmare.
Energy crisis, stagflation, Watergate, malaise, Iran hostage crisis, Christmas bombings in Cambodia, fall of Saigon, polyester, shag carpeting... 70's greatest decade. I don't think so.
Being born in 1970, I prefer the '80s but the '70s were cool. Both were better than the '90s. The '00s are horrific.
I wish I was born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties My mother cried When president Kennedy died She said it was the communists But I knew better Would they drop the bomb on us While we made love on the beach We were the class they couldn't teach 'Cause we knew better I wish I was born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties They screamed When the Beatles sang And they laughed when the King fell down the stairs Oh they should've known better Oh we hated our Aunts Then we messed in our pants Then we lost our faith and prayed to the TV Oh we should've known better I wish I was born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties We freeze like statues on the pages of history Living was never like this when we took all those G.C.E.'s Oh, you opened the door for us And then you turned to dust You don't understand us So don't reprimand us We're taking the future We don't need no teacher Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties Born, born in the fifties
That clip is awesome. Any way I can get that as my screensaver? I liked the 90's the best- I was born in 73, so I vaguely remember the 70's. You aren't very aware of pop culture when you're single digits. The 80's were fun as heck, but the 90's were when I had total freedom. I like the current decade too, politics aside.
Since I was born in 1980, the '70s have no chance of being the best decade. We might as well restructure our dating system where 1979 CE becomes 1 BSM.
The '70s was probably the greatest decade ever when it came to music (and yes that even includes having disco around).
