First few minutes they showed a lot of interviews.....Tracy, Stephon, Horry, Warren Moon.

    Then they talked about Stoudamire

DS: "I have not had any dialogue with anyone in the Memphis organization. Not Mr. West, not Coach Fratello."

    Berman: "What about your agent?"

DS: "My agent has talked to them ONCE"

DS: "Houston IS and always has been my first choice but if it doesnt work out Memphis is a place to consider."

*These arent his EXACT words, but very similar. CLUTCH has the interview on the site somewhere if im not mistaken!

Houston IS and always has been my first choice but if it doesnt work out Memphis is a place to consider.

I didn't see the interview, but based on the choice of words above, DS will likely be a Rocket. Those are very strong words. He could have at least said Memphis would be his fallback position or another very attractive option. "Place to consider" isn't a strong endorsement of the notion of him going to Grizztown.

It'll be difficult to work out a sign-and-trade with Portland. They're letting Abdur-Rahim go for nothing, when they could have had a 2nd round pick and a sizeable trade exception otherwise. Portland had been holding out for a 1st round draft choice.

If what you say is true, DS takes the LLE or goes elsewhere. We should not give up a 1st round draft choice.

I'd give up a 1st rounder to trade Spoon, Baker or Mooch for DS. The 1st rounder will be high 20s or 30 in a weak looking draft. Doing this keeps our lux tax down and roster open relative to even a strait LLE signing. This also makes it easier to resign Barry and Deke and another guys like Baxter or Glover.

I interpret his quote differently. To me it sounds like hes saying if a sign and trade can't be worked out and i have to choose bw 4 mil a yr and 1.8 mil ill choose 4 mil. I dont doubt that houston is his number one choice IF(big if) the $ is there but it looks like he still considers the financial issue pretty highly.

So far it doesnt look like portland is biting on any SnT offers which is why im convinced he's going else where. Dont mean to sound negative bc i think DS is prob one of the best true pg we can get right now in FA.

Exactly.. his saying my heart is in Houston, but th money thr Grizz are puting Forth is way to tempting to passup. this is a guy coming off a 90 MILLION CONTRACT/1. .. he cant passup the extra 2.2 mill the grizz are passing by?... talk about greedy!.

His Priority like every other spoilt rich NBA thug is not about Wining, but making as much as they can!. i guess the 90 mill could'nt " FEED " his family!

Sorry about the double post, but it shows how Special this kid Stromile Swift is. in a League where everone is about making about $$$$$$ his Willing to Compromise for a chance to build a dynasty or at the very least team that will compete or a long while to come. Swift = Role model for this Genertion of spoilt NBA thugs. or Atleast he should be!

You are making generalizations that are not fair: greedy, thug, "feeding" his family, throwing away money, spoiled, NBA players are thugs, NBA players care only about money. It seems out of line

Where I come from stupid is throwing away money, not asking for more. Foregoing $10 million dollars would apparently be very easy for you, but you surely can understand most people chosing to instead get those measly $10M dollars

My only complaint with your post is you calling NBA players thugs. It's very unnecessary and I'm sure you can think of another word to describe your disdainment for NBA players who sign for money. Calling them thugs almost makes you look a bit childish and it actually doesn't make any sense when said player is signing for 3, 4, or even 10 million more if he signs with a different team. In most of America that is more than a "little" bit of money. Hell, it's more than a bit of money to millionaires and NBA players alike. You really should get off your high horse and try putting yourself in some of these players positions.

What cracks me up is people complaining about the players wanting to make the most money they can before they quit, knowing in their real world job, they would not take a pay cut, to work for a "better company".

These guys are not gonna play ball forever, and many of them won't do anything else after they finish, so it's good to have your duckets in a row before you're done.

Just remember what you said. It would be contradictory for you to ever slam Stromile for his play or whatever it might be. With that kind of statement he gets a pass from you

o please...most nba players today are making more than most megastars of the past. the truth is ALL athletes are way overpaid and shouldnt complain about crap. These are guys all making well over 1 million so I dont know what there is to complain about. nba players should not have to worry about not having money after their nba careers if they SOME WHAT manage their money correctly. if any of these guys somehow ran out of money, and ended up living on the streets they have NO ONE to blame but themselves.

How exactly did he compromise for a chance to build a dynasty? He didn't resign last year with the Grizzlies because he thought he could get more on the open market this year. Oops. Noone offered him more than the MLE this year, and after NJ signed Rahim in trade with their trade exception, his only avenue for a higher salary than the MLE was gone.

I'm ecstatic that we got the guy, but let's not make him out to be a saint.

O please yourself.......who cares what they make? They are doing thier freaking job, which to some of them is to make as much money as they can. If they want to make more and can, then why in the hell can't they? Because they should just, "want to win"...... Some of these players really love basketball, and want to win, but some of them are just talented individuals that use it as a means to an end. Why should I criticize the latter, just because they want to pocket a extra cash?

Ok Thug is extrem, i'll admit that. but was in Damon's Case. i was just pointing out that his coming out of a mega contract and is certianly set for life. signing a 1.8 mill Contract to say the 4 mill the grizz are offering is'nt exactly gonna make a huge difference?...
