MUTOMBO? ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. I figured it out who it is. Bruno Sundov. Jazz Release Sundov SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 26 — The Utah Jazz announced that they have requested waivers on 7-2 center Bruno Sundov. Sundov came to the Jazz from Dallas in the four-team trade involving the Mavericks, Boston, Golden State and Utah that brought Donyell Marshall to the Jazz and sent Howard Eisley to Dallas. He had played in 14 games for the Mavericks during the 1999-2000 season, averaging 1.9 ppg and 0.9 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per game. Wow, you mean there is someone with a lower reb avg than Bullard? ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
What do you guys think of the 7'5" chinese center? He's trying to get into the NBA draft next year and according to ESPN many nba big wigs are expecting him to go #1 in the draft. Move over baby shaq (Eddie Curry)!!!! ------------------
Sabirk I'll need to see a link of some sort before I'll believe it ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up. [This message has been edited by Summer Song Giver (edited September 26, 2000).]
I have also heard this about the Chinese center. Supposedly, though he is 7'5", he has great speed, good footwork, and good passing skills. The only hang-up is that he must get permission from his team in order to apply for the draft. On a humorous side note, I read on espn that in one game the Chinese were playing, he fouled out, and instead of just sitting on the bench, they gave him a clipboard so that he could keep a scorecard (or something). I like this policy. Make the players do grunt work if they screw up, rather than pointless fines. ------------------ "Nothing is certain but the unforseen." Some Dude
Doesn't Sundov have outrageous range ? I saw him at one of the nike hoops festivals, and he looked good. ------------------ "Well, I don't know what I received my honorary degree in, but judging by the fine sisters in the crowd, I hope it is gynecology." Summer Song Giver, here's the info you requested . . . http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein/776658.html and here's the excerpt . . . We've discovered that they do things a little differently in China. Yao Ming, the 7-5 center who has everyone's attention, was handed a clipboard and forced to keep track of God-knows-what after fouling out early in the second half against the United States. That won't happen to Yao when he gets to the NBA, which could happen by October 2001. It's expected that Yao, 20, will declare for the June draft, provided he gets the necessary clearance for his team in Shanghai and the Shanghai mayor. And there's already a groundswell among NBA executives -- with Philadelphia's Larry Brown as lead droolee -- that Yao will be the No. 1 overall pick next June. Brown can't stop talking about Yao's size, mobility, passing and shot-blocking ability. ------------------ [This message has been edited by sabirk (edited September 27, 2000).]
thanks sabrik i can't remember a foreign player with the exception of a young sabonis ever projected so high in a draft, let's hope he makes it over here.i watched the game between u.s. and china but he got little p.t. due to foul touble;he's a big guy though and still young so maybe there's time for him to get over here and learn the nba game. ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up.
Didn't the Mavs draft an incredibly tall Chinese player a year ago? I think he was 7'7" and was called Wong Zhi-Zhi (sp?), but he couldn't get out of his contract with the Chinese team. Will Yao Ming run into the same problems? ------------------
Wang Zhi Zhi is 7' tall....not 7'7". He is playing in the olympics now, and is a decent player. On Sundov....he is raw, really raw. If he coudln't get off the Mavericks bench last year, even in a route, then how would we expect he would see a single minute with Houston? ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I know you may think Im crazy but I say lets give Leon Smith a chance. I heard he was a great rebounder and can score inside. He could be another great athlete coming off our bench.
I agree with Lil Francis....Let's give Leon Smith a shot. What do we have to lose? ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
