The new 790 morning show starts today. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4129845.html KBME (790 AM) hopes to take the next step as a legitimate Arbitron ratings rival to KILT (610 AM) with the premiere at 7 a.m. today of its new morning show featuring Carl Dukes and newcomer Brad Davies. Ken Charles, vice president of Clear Channel Communication's Houston cluster, said Davies and Dukes will take a few weeks to work out regular features with the help of three show contributors. Natalie Fitzgerald will do traffic reports and "will have a role in the show," Charles said. The most prominent third voice, however, will be a woman he identified only as " Maggie," who he said will be Davies' and Dukes' "eyes and ears" at news conferences and other events.
I have my doubts about their ability to compete w/610's morning show. IMO, they should've stuck to the original national "Mike & Mike"...... it provided a nice alternative to the locals on 610 & they had many guests (Olney to mention 1) that i enjoyed.
in order to truly compete in this market, i think they had to go local. but for me personally, i'd far prefer to tune in to mike & mike from time to time.

Took you that long? I hated him the first time he opened his mouth. He's worse than Rome. Absolutely NO reason to ever listen to anything Colin Cowherd has to say on any subject.
Considering that was the first time I ever heard him (outside of him slamming people for caring about that wrestler dying a couple years ago), it sounds like I'm in the same boat as you!
Cowpatch was terrible. Good riddance! I listened for about 15 minutes this morning and it was fair. We'll see how they develop.
I already miss Mike and Mike, I enjoyed their show much more than Johna and Lance, it's no contest really.
I really tried to listen to the new show this morning, but that will be the last time. Carl Dukes is brutal to listen to as it is. Combine that with a guy from New York that does nothing but yell, and you have quite possibly the worst show on the radio. I give them 6 months before the plug is pulled. On a positive note, this hopefully means that Dukes will no longer guest host on the afternoon show when Charlie is out.
The short time I listed it seemed they really played up the two women on the show. The traffic gal and some other chick named Maggie.
I thought it rawked. I loved the pacing, the localization, the Ghostbusters intro...man. It was awesome. Ken Charles, you are a stizz to the nud.
