[610] Daryl Morey on 610 Recap http://player.radio.com/player/RadioPlayer.php?version=1.2.10286&station=63 Daryl Morey talking Rockets, injuries, and what the team needs to do. Morey: So far he has said that he is "optimistic" about the early results of Yao's exam, but they are going to re-examine him and should hear more later today. Didn't specify what the early results said however. Morey: Said reason Jordan Hill didn't play in the end is because Rick was looking to play his vets more and Hill did not play well early in the game resulting in Rick not wanting to play him down the end. Has taken the initiative to develop his overall skills and hookshot especially. Offensively will be alright, needs to improve defensively. Morey: Also said, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola will have to shoulder more of the scoring load with Yao now down in addition to Aaron Brooks being out. Morey on Ish: Has been solid for someone undrafted. Has done more than what they expected. Ish is giving them what they hoped when they brought in. Did a solid job against Wall. Morey on Wall: He's going to be unbelievable. Already is. Single-handedly beat us yesterday. Number 1 pick for a reason. They spent all of the pre-game preparation looking at focusing on him and him handling the ball and he still played well. Fast enough to get to balls before our guys. Morey on Chase: We have been really good when he's been out on the floor. Has had confidence shaken because he has missed so many shots. Has definitely improved defensively. When shot hasn't fallen, he has tried to affect the game other ways: rebounds, hustle. Morey on Courtney: More of a formed player than Chase. Adelman is struggling when to use him because he has so many options at the wing. Hasn't been able to get in a groove this year because he hasn't been used consistently yet because of the injuries. When that settles down, he will do better. Asking him to be a slasher, etc. Morey on Pacers: Envies their 3-3 record. Push tempo and shoots 3's. Have to slow them down. Great player they are building around with Danny Granger. We have to actually execute our defensive plan instead of just talking about it before the game.
If they are encouraged, why is Yao down if it is only a tendon strain? DM has lied about the extent of Yao's injury's time and time again. Take anything he says about Yao at this point with a big heaping of salt. DD
Being cautious? With our terrible record the Questions have become more insightful. I guess that's good, right?
I guess.... I would wait for the official report, because any preliminary exam doesn't really tell you much. Yao probably played with a broken foot 2 years ago...he had that stress fracture during the season, and the preliminary report was just a strain, until it blew up on the playoffs. DD
We wait for the official report, DM is just playing it cool, which he should do BTW....I am just saying don't believe what he says. He plays poker with the media all the time. DD
Yep when you listen to interviews like this after looking at all the games we have played, you clearly see there are so many problems... you really see that the management and the people that work for the team will do nothing but talk positive and make excuses. In other words these people will take you through circles and circles of BS just to keep you buying tickets and keep the franchise profitable. The only way to answers all these questions is to show it on the court. Until then it is BS!
Morey also said Chase is a "confidence player". Translation- he's weak mentally Nothing new about that.
Code: This just in: Yao Ming will be Limited to 24 minutes a game, no exceptions. What a bluff! Morey, you wiley b*stard!
The only thing that matters is Yao's latest injury. Nothing worth discussing until we get word on that.
Agreed. I really dislike that the team always takes a while when Yao is injured to give us a definitive answer. They want to make sure of the problem, but it's nerve-racking as a fan. That was the one thing I wanted to hear more of, but he made it clear in the first 2 mins of his interview that he wasn't going to divulge any more information than he did and they didn't really ask him again.
Did you actually listen to the interview? Morey was pretty clear about how no one is playing to their potential or what they expect of them. He said they have to make changes where they see fit. What a positive spin on things. Yao is going in for more tests on his leg. He and Morey and whoever else do not have a final answer on what it is that is ailing him and how long he could potentially be out (if at all) until those tests are complete and evaluated. No one has said anything different. I'm completely baffled as to where there is misinformation or "Morey be coy" towards the public. Come on people.

Very true. Morey did not have a "happy" tone or try to push a positive spin on things. He just stated the truth for the most part. We have been here before (without Yao) and we just have to move forward. People have to pick up the slack. The only way you could say that Morey was feeding us a positive spin on things is if you expected him to come out and crucify Adelman, call Yao a bust, and say that the team is absolutely dreadful. He didn't go that far. He just called it as it is.
